Hello all,

I am an incoming High School Senior and I will soon begin the college application process. I am interested in Medicine and Business. I was wondering, will I be able to apply to both UIC regularly and the GPPA Medicine program? In other words, if I do not get in the GPPA Program will I still be considered for admission to UIC normally? I am in the dilemma of whether or not to apply to the GPPA Direct Med program because I still want to be able to apply to UIC normally.

I appreciate your insight!

Are you on the correct thread??? UIC is University of Illinois at Chicago. UIUC is University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign. Two different schools !

Yes I know but I was not able to find a forum for UIC… does it even exist?

A quick call to UIC Admissions would answer your question. I do know that the GPPA is an outstanding program that, as its name implies guarantees that if accepted and you successfully complete your undergraduate studies, you will receive and automatic accept to the University of Illinois College of Medicine. You’re taking all your undergrad classes at UIC, so it would seem to me that you’d have to go through the UIC admission process as part of the GPPA Admit process. But, as I said, UIC Admissions would be familiar with any nuances.

I am a parent of a newly accepted GPPA student. The application process for UIC and the GPPA program is to apply separately to UIC and apply separately to the Honors College(which you must be in if you are in GPPA) and apply separately to GPPA. You will receive individual acceptances to each. If you are not accepted into the Honors College you can still attend UIC regular. If you are not accepted into the GPPA program you can still attend as a regular student. Pay attention to the application deadlines but I would encourage you to apply as early as possible to all programs.
