There is another 1st interview on 3/10. How could you guys get notifications for the 2nd interview. The 1st round interview should be all completed before sending the 2nd interview notifications. I feel confused here.

Yeah, I'm confused too, but I guess they select people from each 1st round interview date as they occur for 2nd interviews as opposed to a more holistic approach. The fact that some people have already gotten their second interviews makes the above statement all the more probable.

i just contacted the admissions office and they said that they are done calling for the interviews!!!!
Whoever got the interviews, can you all post your stats, for the sake of future applicants, so people won't waste their time?

could anyone post the format for the 2nd interview? how long and how many interviewer? thanks

the second interview was real easy, just one on one for about 30 minutes, very conversational and the guy was calm and pleasant

my interview was the easiest. they asked me what i liked to do for fun and it went smashingly.

i'm currently in my 3rd year at uic btw, gppa dentistry.

good luck to everyone!

if it makes you feel any better, my stats weren't that great (when I applied):

30 ACT
top 10% of my class at a prestigious magnet school with a rec from my principal
1 year in the Urban Health Outreach Program (which did major things for the connections I made since the Urban Health Program is next door to the College of Dentistry...If anyone really wants a foot in thte door, this is a good one)
4 year City Science Fair winner (which ultimately also won me a full scholarship)
Research at Argonne National Laboratories, coursework at University of Chicago, University of Chicago Young Scholars Program
Internships at a bunch of places I can't remember (I started my first internship when i was 13...go figure)
Volunteering at a bunch of places

Um, other stuff that doesnt really matter:
President of Free Burma
Captain of Scholastic Bowl
Theatre

So, don't despair if you didn't get a perfect ACT or is ranked #1 in your class...the hardest part is making it through gppa...one of my friends just got kicked out of the pharm program.

GPPA perks:
-oodles of acknowledgement- its nice to tell your professors so they'll be more lenient
-research opportunities
-scholarships (for med, i think its automatic)
-special dinners/events/alumni contributions- thus far i've gotten tickets to a ball, expensive conventions and conferences
-recommendations/connections- this is great for seeking fellowships and research opportunities
-learning more about the profession
-fallback- for GPPA med and dent, if your MCAT/DAT isn't perfect, they used to let you take a summer class and still matriculate with everyone else. I don't know if they changed the policy but its awesome if you don't hit the mark on the exams.

Let me know if you have any questions

Wait...i'm confused

the 1st interview is the honors college one
the 2nd is the specific program one
the 3rd is the final selection

is that right?

there are two interviews, first is for honors college, 2nd is the final cut for your particular program

So how many people are invited for the second interview?

60 @ 2nd one

Yea, people are really neurotic right now because admission decisions are coming out soon. There's this one really crazy girl at my school near hinsdale and she applied to 14 schools, not counting the extra med-school applications---she applied to nearly EVERY program!

how many medical students will be accepted after the 2nd interview?

Apparently they are still calling people for 2nd interview, but it all ends TODAY by 5PM. Good luck to everyone still waiting….

40 will be admitted

wow thats a smaller number than past years, did the med school office themselves say that?

The College of Medicine offered admission to 49 applicants for fall 2006. Why it is reduced this year? Do you guys know how many GPPA medicine applicants this year?

Historically between 40 and 45 people have been accepted for GPPA Med. That was an abnormally large number of students.

I am a GPPA Pharmacy student.

wait ChenMasterAC, how did you find out they finished calling for 2nd round interviews?

called the office this morning, I was told "the last notice goes out at 5pm today"
