hmm so does that mean they mailed out invitation letters for 2nd interviews today, or that they've finished calling/emailing?

Sorry, “last call”. Anyone hasn’t heard anything by now; well, draw your own conclusion….

chibiutena, are you a Collegiate Scholar at the University of Chicago?

I got a letter saying i've been admitted to the Honors College... does this mean that I get a GPPA interview invitation? I wasn't called or anything though...

I think the GPPA interview should be all done by now. The letter of decision will be sent out shortly.

so...when will we know their decisions?

you guys can check ur decisions online by going to the urbana-champaign check application status thingy, the GPPA decisions can be found there too, i just checked yesterday and got in

Thanks acemaster, I checked and I am in too. Yay!

BU SMED vs. GPPA

What will you pick?

Please be open. I need all the help to decide.

congrats momat! personally, i would pick bu. Bu is superior in terms of both undergrad and medical school. Its med school is ranked 34th, one spot ahead of Brown Medical School. UIC Medical school is not even in the top 50. While there are several other things to consider, I think BU SMED is the superior program.

Congrats to all of you who got/get in!

I would urge you to give -careful- consideration when making the decision between GPPA (Med) and another program or school.

True, UIC does not have the reputation of an exceptional school, and no one's going to argue that it has Ivy League status, BUT...

As a first-year GPPA Medicine student, I have to say that I was astounded and impressed with UIC and it's academics and curriculum. UIC is steadily gaining ground in its academics and research. I am constantly being challenged by the classes (I started this year with a number of 200-level classes, including Organic Chem), and I am sure my GPPA Med friends would agree. I was considering attending other, higher-reputation schools (i.e. Northwestern, WUSTL, Johns Hopkins BME, UChicago) before I settled on GPPA at UIC.

Rankings are one thing, but the opportunities you can get at the UIC medical school, which is the largest medical school in the nation, are outstanding. I'm already in touch with a few medical school faculty members about conducting research, and you might know that UIC is one of the top research universities in funding. The top-3 (I believe) residency placement rate at UIC med school was about 96% from this month's Residency Match, with a number of students placed in hard-to-get programs such as anesthesiology, or at schools such as University of Chicago, and a UIC med student received UIC Hospital's only neurosurgery spot.

So, for example, while BU may be a good choice (and I'm not saying it's not, it definitely IS a great program), definitely carefully consider what UIC has to offer. [[I personally think it's phenomenal, and am glad that I am here]]

UIC is not an easy school. You will learn a lot here. UIC is already ranked 47th in research dollars, and is a research 1 school.

thanks for the above replies. i am going to carefully think it over for a week.

so who are all going to be there this fall? anyone decided yet?

ummm are the pharmacy gppa decisions supposed to be out now as well? I'm still "pending" in my UofI status thing...

So where is all the GPPA class of 2014?
I decided to stay..

hey momat
im probably coming to gppa..still deciding between that and a few other programs and I'm super confused. looks like you had trouble deciding too. mind telling me what made up your mind?
