Sorry... l0vevik is just not correct, and I say this from experience. The four campuses of the UIllinois medical school - Chicago, Urbana-Champaign, Rockford, and Peoria all are exceptional, and the professors are leading researchers in their field (especially at Chicago, since UIC is one of the nation's leading research institutions).

I'm still an undergraduate, but I've so far taken 4 classes with medical school faculty, and they have all been exceptional.

As for your stats, sk8n4eva, I'd say that you have the academic record and the involvement, but (of course) it all comes down to the essay and interviews at the Honors College and then at the Medical School.

. . . how long should the essays be? 32000 char is a lot.

when do u find out if u got an interview?

for the application status what does it say? for mine it says pending-manual review req

i was just wondering if that is what everyones says right now.

same thing here

k.

haha.

just making sure

When R They Gonna Start Interviewing?!?!?
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

i just got an e-mail about the interview

I got an interview invite:

Dear ********,PRIVATE

Congratulations on your acceptance to the University of Illinois at Chicago. We have received your application to the Honors College and the Guaranteed Professional Program Admissions (GPPA). I am happy to invite you to visit our campus for an interview scheduled for Saturday, January 26, 2008. Registration will start at 8:30 a.m., and the program will begin at 9:00. In addition to the interview, you will write an impromptu essay, and receive a campus tour. While you are busy with your activities, your parents are invited to attend an informational program of their own. The day's events will conclude by early afternoon.

The event begins in room 302 Student Center East, located at 750 S. Halsted Street. If you drive, you may park in Lot 4 (Halsted Street Parking Structure), located at the corner of Halsted and Taylor Streets. Parking will be $6.50. Additional information to assist you in getting to the campus may be found on our website at http://www.uic.edu/honors/about/documents/traveldirections.pdf.

By participating in this interview, you will be considered for admission to the Honors College, as well as for Honors College scholarships. The information gathered during this interview may also be used during the GPPA admissions process.

Please phone my office at (312) 413-2260 as soon as possible, but no later than January 23, to let us know if you and your parents will be with us on January 26. In order to ensure your eligibility as a scholarship candidate, it is important that we know whether you will be attending. If you are unable to attend on January 26, we are happy to reschedule your visit.

I look forward to welcoming you to UIC and to the Honors College.

Sincerely,

Lon Kaufman

Dean

that looks more as if it's for the honors college and not the GPPA.

so there is 2 gppa medical interviews, plus one honors college? total of 3??

impromptu essay? ***!

No no, I called this afternoon. This interview is for the honors college and "may be supplemental" to the GPPA.

They just started looking at the medical GPPAs (they got off break today), and the guy said around Feb 1st is when interview decisions are sent out, acceptances by phone, rejections by letter.
