UIC-GPPA.

hey ng22, congratulations on the gppa dental! what were your stats if you dont mind?

If you havenā€™t applied for housing by now, you are too late. The halls are probably filled by now. You might have a chance to get in by the Spring semester. Before they built JST, housing would be filled by February.

If I recall, about 30 people a year get the Chancellorā€™s Scholarship.

definatelyā€¦

gpa- about 4.4 out of 4.0
debate club, state golfer, model un, shadowed a dentist, and a couple others

i hope this helps.

Nova10: Seriously? Housing is filled?

Ohhhh crapā€¦I submitted the first part of the application and so Iā€™m still waiting to get to actually submit preferences for where to stayā€¦

I wouldnā€™t be so sure about housing being filled. Itā€™s likely that housing in JST is close to capacity, and likely in east campus halls (Commons West/North/South) are getting there. But if you havenā€™t applied and you apply now, youā€™ll probably get housing but itā€™ll probably be on West Campus residence halls.

Also, only 1 GPPA student per year gets the Chancellorā€™s GPPA Scholarship, which covers full tuition and fees for 4 years (not sure if it covers housing also). The Honors College also gives out merit scholarships, and that one is to about 30 students. That scholarship is in the $2000-$3000 range per year.

Congrats to all who got into GPPA! Itā€™s a great program.

thanks ng22, that helps a lot. Also, if you donā€™t mind what was your ACT? I want to know how far off I was from getting in haha. thanks so much.

haha wait rkam are you who i think you are?? lol as you can probably tell by some answers i gave you, i didnā€™t want ppl figuring out who i am on this thing but i think its too late for that now! my act score is a 32. lol if you really are who iā€™m thinking, i donā€™t know much about your grades and stuff but i neverrr thought you were less qualified than myself. i actually really believed you had a better chance than i did to get into these programs.
colleges have a mind of their own, thereā€™s really no use to try to analyze and figure them out.

i probably wonā€™t go on this forum thing much anymore since i have no more questions but good luck in college!!! iā€™m still debating between marquetteā€™s program and gppa so if your going to marquette let me know!

When I applied for housing, I got the second part of the application within a month or so of applying. The first part of the application is what is online. The second part is a bunch of questions about your personality.

yeahh, i know exactly who u are! hahaha congrats on getting in!, i seriously was thinking about your screen name to see if I knew who it was, and i realized this afternoon and was like wow, what a coincidence! but yeah, i guess u never know what colleges want. I still need to hear from marquette, thatā€™ll be my top choice over pacific im pretty sure. have u hear back from pacific??

Congratulations to all that got in, but I am a GPPA Pharmacy student as a freshman in undergrad, and I have to say my experience at UIC is very underwhelming. Choosing this school was probably one of the worst decisions in my life. In my opinion, the campus does not have the typical feel and the professors donā€™t seem to really care. Now I am going to transfer to Tulane to finish up undergrad and go somewhere else for professional school.

LOL srsly? Well I hear UICā€™s pharmacy school is excellent, but Iā€™ve also heard doing undergrad kinda sucks. Iā€™ll definitely stick it out at uic no matter what =D

wowā€¦ haha i guess there is no reason for ppl to come here till next yearā€¦ well if anyone sees this post whether its in 2010ā€¦
so i know some people that got into gppa dental program with act of 32.
what about with 31?
also, can i apply for gppa dental, pharmacy, and others?

You can apply to multiple GPPA programs, but you can only accept one program.

Is there a tuition deposit for UIC? Itā€™ll be due on May 1st if they do and I canā€™t find out. I already said Iā€™ll attend online.

UIC is no Ivy League but it is not a NIU or SIU wither (no offense). I would say it is a step below U of I, but well above every other state school in Illinois. And even slightly above Depaul and Loyola.

hey guys i got into GPPA med!
anyone else here accepted into Gppa med??
im excited about next yr!

ummā€¦just a question, i was wondering if i got 2 cā€™s in ap classes wud that be a big deal. like wud gppa med rescind me for two cā€™s? also how about one c? if anyone could answer this quickly that wud be great.

lol Iā€™m in the same boatā€¦ as far as I know they wonā€™t

if gppa accepts only 2-3% and ACT scores of 30s. why is the requirement say act score of 28 and class percent of 15%?

why dont they raise up the requirements if it is impossible for those that got 28 and is exactly 15% rank?

Or is there a possibility?

also, isnt it bad to apply for many gppa programs because wont the administration be like ā€œoh this person is not passionate about dentistry since she applied for other programs, we canā€™t pick her.ā€ ?

hey guys, Iā€™m applying to GPPA med for fall 2010, 30 ACT (retaking for 31-32), 8% of 440students, lotsa clubs, and ya.

regarding the recs, i was wondering if they wanted a lot of science teachers (since its med) or subjects that they wouldnt be expecting, such as art and history.

In my case, i was going to ask my AP Biology teacher, AP Art History/Basic Art teacher, and my old history teacher who is also the sponsor of our Community Service Club (of which I am treasurer of). If anyone knows anything about GPPA Medicine, could you please let me know if this is a good idea or not. And also any other tips would really help.
