UIC-GPPA.

unfortunately, if you have not interviewed at the medical school yet, you have not been accepted to GPPA. though you have been accepted to the honors college, you will most likely recieve your formal rejection from GPPA on april first. sorry about this, but stay hopeful!

soo
any chance that decisions will be let out before april 1st?

Hey Guys,

I applied to GPPA dent for the Fall of 2010. I had two interviews
my second interview was March 12th. I think that it definitely improves your chances if you received a second interview but if you didn’t, that doesn’t mean that you have been rejected from the program. I actually know someone who didn’t receive the second interview and was still given admission. Hope this helps!

The big day is tomorrow
ahh =)

Admitted for GPPA Med!

Same! Are you def going there?

Got into GPPA Dental =)
Congrats guys!
For sure going?

most likely! i still need to hear back from harvard and brown today, but i’m pretty sure i won’t get in haha

how about you?

Can people who got into GPPA Med please post their stats (GPA, ACT, ECs, etc.)? Thank you!

has anyone taken the chem placement test yet? im scheduled to take in on the 28th and im not too excited about it haha

and acehero, i’ll post my stats up in a bit

the chem placement test is just a math test

Any advice on how to study for the Spanish placement test?

Does it have any listening or reading comprehension?

If I recall, the Spanish placement test was all written.

Can anyone who got accepted post some stats?

can anyone explain gppa application process in detail?> i am completely in the dark.

sure  i’ll be attending the gppa med program this fall.

uic generally receives around 500-600 gppa med applications each year, all due by dec 1 i believe. from that, they conduct mandatory honors college interviews for all candidates they feel are strong enough to be a part of the honors college (usually most of the people that apply). this happens in jan-feb. then the selections committee (usually dr. chambers, dr. cohen, and one other whose name i forgot) then review the applications and select ~100 people to interview. interviews take place in two rounds, and each selected interviewee is assigned to one round. this happens around march. From those ~100, 25-30 are selected for the med program (their acceptance rate has really declined from previous years). i know that this year, there were about 25 that were selected, and 19 that actually accepted the offer.

hope this helps!

note: the med and dental programs are only open to illinois residents though. and you can choose whether you want to complete the program in 7 or 8 years. also, uic med school will not revoke your seat if you choose to apply out to a different med school after your undergraduate studies, which is definitely a plus

^Stats please?

here are some of my stats

dr. chambers brought it up in my interview quite a bit, shadowed doctors, volunteered at marklund children’s home and my local hospital

if you have any other questions, feel free to ask :)

^Thanks! But does UIC GPPA even look at your SAT Subject Tests? I thought they didn’t. Also, did you make National Merit Semifinalist?

I think only ACT is required according to the website.
I have a question for anyone who received full ride to UIC GPPA: What were the requirements? Is it financial status only??I really want to get into the program but unless I receive full ride or nearly full tuition, I would have to attend different school:(
