<p>The 4 year tuition waivers for honors college or GPPA are merit based. UIC has very few merit based scholarships. I believe there are <30 merit based scholarships per year. Full rides are UIC are nearly unheard of. There are also separate non-honors college/GPPA scholarships available, but they include financial need.</p>

I am going to be a junior in a small private high school in st. louis, missouri. It offers some, but not all of the AP courses available at bigger high schools, but is still as challenging as any of them. Iām considering anything for pre med but being from st. louis i have a lot of DIFFERENT options. The most common path from someone in my position would be to attend pre med at SLU. Slu also has a med scholars program that finishes in 7 years and is much more competitive. Iām also considering UMKCās 6 year Ba/Md program. Iāve heard this is hell, but my primary care doctor went there and says shed do it over again and has offered a letter of recommendation (which is a big one cause she holds high position in the medical community in st. louis). I could also go to wash u but thats doubtful just because of the difficulty of admission. I have a 3.9 (we donāt weight grades) and some of my ECās are taking a summer course at St. Louis U called AIMS (adventures in medicine) and i plan on taking a different one next summer on surgical procedures, varsity basketball (all 4 years), student ambassadors, student mentor, NHS, tutor with NHS, volunteer weekly at local hospital, future professionals in medicine club, FBLA, and recieved a geography award. I will take AP us history and AP chem next year (as a junior) and havent yet decided my senior year schedule (could take AP bio, AP geography, AP psych etc.). I would like to know your opinions on my chances of getting into any of these programs or others and if you have any suggestions on what to take or any other ECās i could do (especially in the health field) i would really appreciate it. thanks</p>
<p>Congratulations! All you GPPA medicine applicants out there, donāt fret about completing the application. You all have over 18,000 years to complete it! According to the website, the GPPA med application is due December 1, 20109! </p>
<p>Usually the GPPA Med application is due before all other GPPA applications, but this time they made it due much, much later than the other applications. Relax - you guys have a lot of time now. (Aside - no wonder there is so little activity on this thread).</p>

<p>I applied to GPPA Medicine for fall 2011 and just got my invitation for the first interview two days ago. At this point, I have a question that is serious and personal to me. Iām an unusual person and I do not rely on others to determine who I am. I am a male with exceptionally long, curly (natural) hair and a decent beard for an 18-year-old. Pulled straight, the longest parts of my hair reach the bottom of my ribcage. I have been growing my hair all of high school and it has definitely become an important part of my identity. Taking a first glance at me, itās the only aspect of my appearance that really sets me apart from any random person. I take care of my hair; it is not sloppy and I somewhat often receive complements for it.</p>
<p>However important my hair is to me, getting into the GPPA program is much moreso. I am willing to cut my hair if it will increase my chances of getting accepted. My brother posed an interesting question: what if I do not get in and always wonder whether it was because of the first impression my hair made? I should take every action I can to increase my chances, especially when they start at about 10%. However, I do not know the people interviewing me and what exactly they are looking for. From the quirky, playful, yet intellectual nature of their application essays, I can tell that if I were to be interviewed at the University of Chicago, they would likely see my hair in a positive light as a unique attribute. I cannot tell if UICās GPPA program would take it the same way. I would like to hear opinions from people who are involved in the program, not wild guesses from whomever. Should I cut my hair or keep it?</p>

<p>hey guys, so im new. and i got a bunch of questions ;). im a senior in high school, i applied for GPPA Pharmacy. i got a 28 on my ACT and i have a 4.6 GPA and my rank is 3 out of 18 students (i go to a private school), but thats in the top 17%, is that going to effect my chances of getting in or wud they make an exception?</p>
<p>also, i heard that GPPA Pharmacy applicants donāt get interviewed, but we have to apply for the Honors College and there is an interview. Does that mean thereās only one interview and not two?</p>
<p>oh and the online status on the UIC Admissions page says that they recieved my stuff (transcripts, statements, letters) on the 19th, how long do u think itāll be until i hear an answer about GPPA and the Honors College?</p>
<p>any tips/advice for the interview, like wat i shud wear (im muslim), wat i shud be detailed in mentioning and wat not to mention, etc. it wud be greatly appreciated.</p>

I submitted mine becuase of my ACT score.
Also Iām pretty sure there is no more than one interview for Pharmacy 'cause the website mentions about 2nd interviews FOR medicine and Dentistry students, not pharmacy.</p>
