I’ve recently been admitted to University of Illinois at Chicago and Also DePaul University. My intended major is Management with a minor in Finance. I might be doing the prerequisites for medical school because that is also a possibility. Both schools are around the same costs because DePaul gave me more merit aid so money isn’t really an issue. In terms of prestige and academics, which school is better?
Congrats! I am transferring too and both admitted to both as well, including UIUC. Depaul has a quality education compared to UIC. I know many people who go to UIC and they complain how huge the classes are 90+ and only some classes like labs are smaller. UIC may be harder in terms of sciences (what people say) but I think its easy because the teacher does their work or goes on phone during the exam, while students get the advantage to cheat. While Depaul has a small class - 25-30 mostly or even lesser for labs. I have visited both the campuses, I like Depaul more and where its situated. UIC is more like office or residential type than a university.
And since you have a business major, you have greater opportunities are Depaul.
If you see, they have sponsorship with good companies that offer internships - like Abbott, Dell, and more.
I look forward to Depaul too :)>-
Run, do not walk to DePaul. The school has worked very hard making connections with Chicago area employers, and business placement from DePaul is better than the schools overall rank. UIC undergrad is still seen by many as a place for CPS graduates to finish high school.
I agree that DePaul is the better option. It may be hard to do both a pre-med curriculum and a business major. Look at the requirements for each online.
DePaul, definitely! If they’re both roughly the same cost, there’s no comparison, especially with the budget woes UI is experiencing.
