Good chance. As long as you have a decent course rigor with some good math/science classes and a decent math/science ACT score.
Don’t sweat it, you’ll be fine.

just to make sure, i took ap calc bc and ap physics b last year and got a’s… and i got 35 math and 34 science.

Your unweighted GPA is even irrelevant. It’s all about class rank with UIUC. Top 10% and 2000+ is probably good enough for a spot in the engineering school. I’m a 2200 and 11%'er. I should get in but obvi I’m not positive.

What do you think about my chances at CompSci?

I am an IB student from Turkey. I have a 70/100(4/5) GPA, 1970(1390/1600) SAT score, working on a dual-diploma program which will result in receiving the national degree and the IB degree.

My courses: IB Mathematics HL / IB Physics HL / IB A2 English HL / IB Biology SL / IB Chemistry SL / IB ToK / IB A1 Turkish Linguistics and Literature SL and other national courses.

ECs: Lots of international and national project competitions, one patent, couple of commercial software

Here is the Naviance scattergram of my school:

I am either accepted to CompSci or don’t even deserve to be in DGS. :)

I stupidly applied to the engineering program, but I know I probably(definitely) don’t have a shot at it. 31 ACT, 3.61 uw, not too many EC’s: 2 part time jobs, piano, nothing special: and an alright essay.
Do you guys think i have a shot at DGS? Or would i have had more of a shot if I had applied to DGS in the first place?

Relax. Nothing you can do 3 days from decision.

OMGMIT - I honestly don’t know about your chances. I don’t know how they will feel about your being from Turkey, but the courseload seems good. What was your SAT math score?

Bharglee - You have a fairly decent chance at engineering (GPA is on the low side), and I’d be shocked if you didn’t at least get into DGS.

My math section score was 750.

By the way, I don’t think that they have a different stance for Turkey, I wrote it to state that I am an international.

Oh sorry, I didn’t make that very clear; it’s generally known that it’s harder for internationals to get in. Preference is given to Illinoisans.

Your SAT math is very good. You have a solid chance, IMO.

Yeah, the international field is highly competitive.
There are plenty of qualified internationals who try for UIUC (often those who can’t go to MIT).

Glad I’m from the state.

Did UIUC send any emails about upcoming decision postings ? Other schools like U Mich, Georgia Tech seem to be notifying that the results will be coming soon, check the site etc.

^I haven’t received anything yet.

I applied ME with a 29 and 4.23 weighted. One of my friends says ME is the toughest engineering major to be accepted to is that true?

I don’t know anything about ME, but I’ve heard BE is pretty tough.

What time is the decision posted on Friday?

5 pm CST .

I just received an e-mail…

Just got the email from Illinois that they will be releasing the admission notifications online at 5PM on Friday, Dec 17th. Wish every one good luck.

Illinois process seem to be very organized compared to Mich where it is a bit confusing. What they said said on their website, what they communicated on email and what they are finally doing is very clear with no confusion at all.

Dang that’s 6pm for me, and I’ll be warming up for my basketball game! Hm…I think I’ll be relying on my blackberry…
