UIUC Business Honors Program?

I just got an e-mail from the assistant dean stating that I was one of the 120 students chosen for honors program at the business school. Does anyone know anything about this?

IT looks pretty cool, it says they give you a pretty nice four-year renewable scholarship, a funded international trip, you serve as a business school ambassador, etc.

At first I wasn't really considering UIUC too closely, but this looks really interesting so it's back on my radar now. Anyone have any experience with this program or know anything about it?

I also got this e-mail and i am really excited!

I would like to know a little bit more about the program and the interview process (what questions do they ask? how should i prepare?). When i went on a visit to the campus, i remember hearing about how the business honors students get to work with the assistant dean as an advisor and the trip that the students get to take at the end of their freshman year. It sounds like an amazing opportunity!

The info you seek is readily available on-line (go to College of Business Honors Program, which has some scholarship money, not James Scholars, which has none, in this document):

And here is a report of the trip they took this year:

Drusba,

How do students get selected to participate in the College of Business Honors Program? Does it base on SAT, ACT, GPA, ECs and essays?

Thanks.

^Yes as to all those you list plus an interview with an alumnus who also adds his or her thoughts. They are looking not just for students with good stats but those they consider having potential leadership abilities and good communication skills. Also, I am not sure what the OP received because you are not supposed to get final offer of that honors program until after the interview and by his mention of “120” I am guessing he has not yet actually been selected for the honors program. The “120” are your finalists but the program utlimately wants about 40 and makes offers to 75 to 80 to get that number to enroll and final notification as to whether you are in usually doesn’t come until March.
