UIUC class 2020 thread

@d101parent I really hope I do get in. I applied t them because I didn’t wanna think back and regret about what would have happened if I had applied.

@tiwari124 Got waitlisted. 3.8gpa, 33act, average essay, ECs, and intl student (and cs major). I know I’m not the most competitive applicant, but I’m wondering if being asian+cs major lowered my chances.
I did apply to RIT (a safety that I’ll prob get in), but I’m getting kinda worried now too. :((

@bizzee It is surprising to see people with 36 ACT’s rejected for CS but that at least is some explanation for our rejection

waitlisted…Mechanical Engineering… Congratulation to those who got in!

personally, I think they were forced to emphasize “diversity” more this year… women and specific minorities in tech…, which is why kids with sub 34 acts are getting in and students with 35+ acts and 2300 sats aren’t. i don’t have any specific evidence to back this theory up, but it would make sense given how many smart asian applicants and students (both domestic and international) UIUC has. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a slightly lower average ACT/SAT score this year.

You’re right @pallavijaniani thanks though!

I got rejected? what. How competitive is UIUC CS? It is a shocker because I got into Georgia Tech and Umichigan.
