Does UIUC accept mid term grades? My school finished their finals only last week…
Decisions will be released on February 5.
They don’t want transcripts…
They don’t publicize the data by major, and even the data at the College level is open to interpretation. A student who is rejected by their 1st choice major, but accepted to a 2nd choice in the COE, will not have their original app/rejection ever counted in the released College level stats (they count as one app/one acceptance). Obviously the 1st app/rejection would have to be counted if calculating the acceptance rate by major. So the acceptance rate to the individual majors will average lower than the overall acceptance rate (obviously with great variability between majors), and the College level acceptance rate (44.1% last year) is overstated. How to count applicants who are rejected from both choices is also open for debate. They are technically submitting two unique applications, but they are only ever counted as one.
The whole process of considering 2nd choice majors mucks up the math, and is probably why they don’t break out the statistics by major publicly.
CS acceptance rate is about half the published rate for the College of Engineering, maybe a little lower this year as the department has recently mentioned that they are up to 4,100 apps this year for the CS major. The CS dept will talk about stats from time to time, but you will need a FOIA request to get anything out of admissions.
I think closer to 20%, but no telling for sure.
@YZamyatin thanks for the info.
Any idea what time the decision will be released on feb 5th?
4 pm CST @Rohitmohit

Anyone who applied for Math & CS/Stats & CS as first choice?
If you’re willing to share them, what are your stats in applying to the bschool?
@oreolover123 I applied for CS only.
@infiniteCircle are you an international applicant?
@oreolover123 Nope, in-state.
Would I have a decent chance at Comp E with a 3.73 UW, and a 33 ACT (34 Superscored)?
Also, my highest section scores for Math and Science are 34 and 33, respectively.

@anonuiuc2020 If I’m not mistaken unweighted GPA maxes out at 4.0… Not sure how you managed to get a 4.95. Should probably change that to match how other schools do unweighted GPA
