@Hopefull16, I didn’t receive any email, what did it say? Can you post it here? Thanks
This was the email I just got from UIUC
Email title: Decisions are coming
It’s almost time, (my name)
Your admission decision will be available this Friday, February 5, after 4 p.m.
How to view your decision:
- Before Friday, make sure you’re able to access your myIllini account.
- On Friday, log in to myIllini and click on your application for admission.
@Remmyk, thank you, I found the email, it came around 4pm.
@username9279 I think you have a good chance, but it really depends on this year’s applicant pool.
As for your question,
I will share my family’s personal experience.
I have 2 children attending UIUC in the College of Business. Both of them are very happy. Academically they are doing very well, but I think they under-estimated the following prior to attending the school: the business career services department (my daughter has her second summer internship lined up for this summer), the RSOs (both have found rewarding and fun organizations to join) and the strong study abroad programs.
As for Indiana/Kelley, my son considered it, but chose UIUC after attending direct admit day in Bloomington. He probably would have been equally successful there, but its size and “admit” standards concerned us a little bit. Fit is important. We visited Illinois, Michigan and Indiana (again) after receiving acceptances from those schools and it helped with the decision-making process. Sometimes you see things differently when you actually have an acceptance in your hand.
Good luck! I hope you get good news on Friday.
I don’t like doing these what are my chances things, but Friday is making me too nervous.
SAT: 2140
ACT: N/A
GPA: 3.8 (I should mention that it was mostly STEM classes that took me down, and I am in a school where As are given freely.)
Numeric Weighted GPA: 98.8 (+7% for each honors and AP class)
SAT IIs: 710 chem, 710 physics, 690 Spanish
APs:
Sophomore- Stats (4)
Junior- Physics 1 (4), English Lang (5), Calc BC (5 w/ AB subscore of 5), Psych (5)
Senior- Physics C Mech and EMag, English Lit, Chem, CompSci
ECs: Pretty much Science Olympiad, quiz bowl, and math team for all 4 years, then a couple of honor societies. Like I said, there are too many As given out at my school, so those will likely mean nothing.
Work exp: Internship at GT
Volunteer work: Science Olympiad coach for middle school team
NM semifinalist and doubtful about advancing to finalist.
OOS applicant (GA) for MSE
Last year, UIUC accidentally released a “DECISION APPEAL FORM” in MyIllini at around 11:30 AM CST. A lot of students posted that on CC. Those who didn’t have the form at that moment, got accepted. After everyone went crazy for an hour or so, UIUC removed that form from the portal.
Let’s all hope things go well this time.
Here’s how it went last year (REPLACE THE SPACES BETWEEN i and imgur, as well as imgur and com, WITH A DOT)

Fukin’ 3 more days of agony in my life!!! @-)
helo, theyre predicting another GaTech for UIUC
Acceptance rates for lots of schools have gone down this year, e.g Purdue from 64 to 59.2
@skyblade1234 It may be because the number of applicants are increasing? Just my guess
@skyblade1234 Let’s hope that it’s NOT another GT. 30% admit rate for EA? Are you kidding?
I’m predicting a 1-2% acceptance rate for CS this year. Judging by recent trends, this isn’t too unrealistic.
2 more dayss//…!!..!! :)>-
Folks…!!!
Frankly, I have absolutely no hopes for UIUC…so am not coming here too often to check…also not too tense thus. March end/April 1st week would be more realistic for me looking for decisions from other schools. Am a twin…similar expectations from my sister.
@sibibib No…whats’ ur major?
UIUC is only godly difficult for CS majoring students. If u are majoring in other engineering majors, u are most probably in!!! Just depends on the passion that u showed in ur essays for learning and ur rapport with ur desired field of study.
Ur numbers are great…!!
B/W where do u live in india? I live in rajasthan.
@Indijat: Thanks! But those stats arent great for any of the big 10. Esp for internationals. I applied for Aero as 1st major and put in Mech as a 2nd major. Plus admissions are not a perfect science yet. I follow a CBSE course but do not reside in India. We live in Qatar.
I was actually told by one of the head admissions counselors that biomedical engineering is more selective than cs
@sibibib U are in girl…!!!
Dont’ worry. Just remember my words. You are in.
U are just too much apprehending the admissions science.
Let me tell u. They take the students who they think will be successful in their unis. and make good alumnis.
Getting 2100+ in SAT and 95%+ in ISC or CBSE means that ur numbers CANT’ get u denial even from HARVARD even if u are international!!!
Wish u good luck…!!
@Indijat
Incorrect, absolutely false. 2100+ SAT and 95% will not be what gets you into schools like Harvard and Stanford - in fact, it’s almost a minimum to be even considered.
@potatoheadhala Do u have anything to evidence ur statement???
I know many Indian students to have been admitted into MIT and harvard with much lesser stats.
And only about 20 people in India get 95+ while only 1 or 2 of them even apply for abroad studies. Where as the admits in elite unis. from India in undergrad are 10+ every year?? U tell me brother, w.t.f.?
It is my guaranteed claim that scores don’t matter once u cross 2100 and 95%.
@Indijat You’re absolutely mistaken and i totally agree with @potatoheadhala Your SAT scores and Grades are only a small factor! Your ECs, achievements, and a lot of other things matter. There are more than 20 people who get 95+ in boards. There were 20+people in my school alone.
I know this girl who was the headgirl of a school she had 2370 sat score, all A grades, and amazing ECs STILL she was deferred from Princeton!
