Hi! I have a pretty basic question, but when you give your first and second choice for your major, are they evaluated independently? My first choice is much more competitive than my second; do you guys think that would affect my chances, or would I just be evaluated against others applying to my second choice major?
@Pollycooper-Independently. First choice major is reviewed, and if you’re accepted, they don’t go onto subsequent choices.
@IL2023 AH Thank you so much – that puts my mind to rest quite a bit
im so stressed about this… not even kidding
Best of luck, all! Really glad that UIUC returned to dual decision dates in December and February. The February-only cycle a couple years back was not fun. Friday afternoon will be here before you know it.
Yeah I can’t wait. Arguably the most important school on my list and I could not be more excited and terrified of the results at the same time.
Is there anyone here that applied to the Bioengineering department?
No I applied to computer engineering… this is one of my top choices… I am so worried
Did anyone apply for CS + Linguistics?
Will they send us an email about the exact time of decisions coming out? Or we just randomly check status on Dec.15?
I think the emails go out after your status is updated, but your status should be available at the right time regardless of whether you got an email or not.
Supposedly they’ve sent out emails beforehand telling everyone the exact time to check, but I don’t know if they’ll do it this year.
Anyone else applied for Computer Engineering.
Result in 3 days time and no activity. Seems like not many have applied for EA. Any idea what time is the result going to be.
@RSK2000 Supposedly results go out at 4 p.m. central time (according to previous years releases), but that could change. It does seem like very few have applied for EA, but I don’t know why.
@audreykoz Maybe they think it is easier to get into UIUC and will go for RD if they are rejected elsewhere.
Regarding results, might want to start checking in the hour before the posted release time-if you look back here, you can find posts showing that was the case. Proved true a couple years ago. I think most applicants do make the EA application date-lots of reason to do so, and really puts one at a disadvantage with certain programs if you don’t.
RSK2000 I’ve applied for computer engineering too! I am an international student btw
Me too… applied for computers
I have also applied for computer science.
