Nothing great…
Senior Year Course Load: Have completed all the math classes possible (through AP Calc and Calc 3), and have only taken hard classes, so senior year, I only have 3 AP classes (Chem, Physics, Macro). Balanced schedule. Can’t say the same for other years.
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): None

Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies till 10th grade (lead trumpet since 8th grade)
Job/Work Experience: Internship at MTS Systems and Corporation (engineering company)
Volunteer/Community service: Center for Victims of Torture, elected our teacher against a long time incumbent and the minority leader. MS Society.

Essays (rating 1-10, details): 8, my passion for renewable energy and technologies. I have begun my own research on the quest to create a technology (to remain unnamed for my own sanity).
Applied for Financial Aid?: errrr… no
Intended Major: Materials Science and Engineering
State (if domestic applicant): MN
School Type: Public?

Hooks: Probably nothing. I was part of the start of a political campaign and got our US Gov teacher elected into the state senate. That was just an extracurricular accomplishment sort of thing.
Reflection
Strengths: Course Load, engagement in community and all, interested student
Weaknesses: GPA and ACT are mediocre
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Well rounded and interested. Good stats too
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Rejected at Swarthmore College ED… No one else has gotten back
Good luck to everyone!
Decision: Accepted
Objective:
SAT I (breakdown): 1570/1600, 18/24 Essay
ACT (breakdown):
SAT II: 800 Math 2, 800 Physics, though I don’t think it’s considered
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): N/A
Weighted GPA: N/A
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): N/A
AP (place score in parenthesis): N/A
IB (place score in parenthesis): My current predicted is 38/45. My 11th grade junior year scores were around 34ish
Senior Year Course Load: IBDP Program, Math, Physics and Computer Science Higher Level
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Not really, Regional awards here or there
Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Open source contributions, programming club (leader: 12th, member: 11th), Science club member (9th and 10th), Internships (below), Self learning programming and machine learning
Job/Work Experience: 3 Internships, two serious web development ones, one sales internship
Volunteer/Community service: Not much, but I mentioned a little
Summer Activities: One of my internships I guess. Nothing much else that’s not year round.
Essays (rating 1-10, details): 8-9. I wrote about getting a high accurancy on one of my NLP classifcation projects, yet not being satisfied after all the effort I put in (and throwing in references to programming work I had done leading up to this) and how I had to go to the limits of my knowledge to achieve it. I then transitioned it towards how I needed much more knowledge, and the statistics and computer science program offered me the programming skills, as well at the statistical and math background to get good results.
Other
Applied for Financial Aid?: No
Intended Major: Statistics and Computer Science (not just computer science, but there is a large overlap and this is closeer to my goals)
State (if domestic applicant): N/A
Country (if international applicant): India
School Type: Very competitive. Lots of acceptances from UIUC every year plus lots of Ivys and other top colleges. I’m quite far from the top at my school.
Ethnicity: South Asian - India
Gender: Male
Income Bracket: Highest, around >200,000
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Not sure if it’s a strong hook, but my essay and activities outside presented me
Reflection
Strengths: My SAT, Essay, My 10th grade ICSE score (94%)
Weaknesses: My IB grades, I think my ECs could have been sold better
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Mostly luck. My school also has good rep with them and they understand the grading scale of my school (which tends to be on the harder side). I think my profile sold that fact that I’m suited to the program decetly well enough.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: This was a reach honestly. I got into Bristol and King’s college London in the UK, and IU Bloomgington and Drexel (two lower safeties). Most of my results still have not come. I have a couple of other reaaches, and based on my replies from those I’ll decide where to attend.
