thought i would set this up…engineering hopeful here!
Same! My stats are good compared to probably the average person, but definitely not up to par as the people applying there.
same oops hopefully they’ll look past my less than perfect gpa
It depends on your college/major. While some majors are very selective, overall it’s not a highly selective school. Certainly UIUC is more selective than the other Illinois state colleges, but you may be able to get in with modest stats, especially if you have decent extracurriculars and submit a good application/essay. For example, a 25 ACT/1200 SAT/3.2 GPA is just in the middle 50% of admitted students for some programs. You could get in with somewhat lower stats in less selective colleges/majors if you have excellent EC/application/hooks. Obviously if your scores are in the middle 50% or below, then consider it a target or reach school, not a safety! https://admissions.illinois.edu/Apply/Freshman/profile
@illinoisx3 My S applied for UIUC/bioengg last weekend. To help support the application, would it make sense to send his AP and Subject SAT scores? Will the admissions really consider it?
Unless there is a recent change in policy, UIUC will NOT accept SAT2 subject test scores or AP results (for admissions purposes) if you send official copies. You might include unofficial SAT2 scores and AP results/awards by listing them in the achievements section of the application if you wish, but I suspect they would not be highly considered since they probably do not verify them.

“No, the SAT Subject Tests aren’t part of our review process and won’t be loaded with your application.”
BioEngineering is a great major and very competitive, good luck to your S!
When did you apply: 9/21
Major/College of Choice: Civil Engineering
Honors program: Planning on applying
Class Rank: School doesn’t rank, but top 14% estimated
ACT/SAT (with Math Subscore): ACT 31 (35 math, 32 English)
10 APs (Including Calc BC and Physics 1)
ECs: Club swimmer since I was 7
Made club state team ever since I was 8

Can someone chance me for Civil Engineering? I’m hoping to get in, this is one of my top schools!
Just as a reminder, UIUC now accepts self-reported standardized test scores, so save your $$. You will only need to send official scores if and when student matriculates
Hi,
I am trying to submit my UIUC app through Coalition for Early Action.
However the problem is that next to the college name it says " Fall 2019 Freshman, due Jan 5, 2019".
I looked through the application and found nowhere to indicate that I’m applying Early Action. How do I change it so that it says November 1 to ensure that I’m applying early?
As the follow up question, I also went through the entire application and could not find anywhere to put in my Coalition essay. How should I do that?
Thanks for the help.
copying @illinoisx3 in this post.
^As to applying EA, there is no special designation for it. If you submit an application and provide grades and test scores by no later than Nov 1, you will be considered an early action applicant.
As to the essay, I do not know where you can find the prompt in the coalition app but you do need an essay relating to your first choice major and a separate one for a second chocie major.
For those who check middle 50% ranges, be aware that UIUC provides the ranges per college https://admissions.illinois.edu/Apply/Freshman/profile and you can also find them per major for most majors by putting in your desired major here https://myillini.illinois.edu/Programs. In both of those links, the GPA range provided is unweighted.
Hello guys. I’ve already submitted my application and I listed my first major as bioengineering. My ACT score was a 34 composite, 35 English, 34 Reading, 36 Math, and 29 Science. Does my Science subscore hurt my chances of getting admitted to bioengineering (I’ve gotten all A’s in my science courses except for 1 semester in which I got a B)?
maybe… but i guess you have filled in your grades in the grades section that that might compensate for it
