@SuperBatBoi01 Can u plz add me to that admitted thread. I PM ed u as well !

@sd1818 You received it in the mail I’m guessing? When did you receive it? Also are you in-state or oos?

@hannah1789 I am out of state, I received it a couple weeks ago, it is also on my portal

@sd1818 that’s weird, I just checked my portal and it says it won’t be released until February, good job though!!!

@hannah1789 Thanks! It is in a separate tap “scholarships” vs the “financial aid” tab

Hi Guys I’m applying to ACES
I have a 3.0 GPA and a 1300 SAT score ( I know thats not great) but I wrote a really passionate essay about my specific major.
what are my chances? Does anyone know the acceptance rate of ACES?

What stats were required for James Scholar at EA round?

@SuperBatBoi01 Could you add me too?

@MomOfAutodidacts

I didn’t think there were minimum stats required (or published) to be a James Scholar. I also thought James Scholar selection varied depending on the College within UIUC.

I haven’t seen any specific numbers. My D16 was accepted EA and selected to be a James Scholar. My D19 had slightly better stats and applied to the same College.

I predicted D16 would get selected as a James Scholar based off having slightly better stats as her sister. Even then, I wasn’t sure she would be picked as a James Scholar because there are no published stats on what is required for selection and everthing about college apps these days seem to be a crapshoot.

Son got into Gies EA.
1550 SAT, 4.19 (w)
Math 2: 800
NM commended
AP scholar with distinction. would have taken 8 APS by end of senior year.

I got in EA as James Scholar
For anyone who may wanna know my stats:
ACT: 34/36
SAT sub: 800 (Math 2, physics, chemistry), UIUC doesn’t really take though
IELTS: 8.5/9
Straight As in high school
Strong STEM ECs
International student (Indian)

@SuperBatBoi01 can you please add me to the admitted students thread? I’ve got no clue how to work this PM thing.

I am sure this was asked before but couldn’t find. Should we submit Mid Year grades which are now available in my D’s school. I know UIUC doesn’t ask for any additional documents but is it OK if we submit mid year grades which are really strong?

Hi everyone! I got in EA awhile ago, but I was also admitted into the President’s Award Program Honors Scholarship. Does anyone know any specifics/benefits of this program? Selectivity? Etc?

I googled, but I couldn’t find much.

Congratulations. Here is some information on President’s Award Program

D19 was fortunately accepted to Gies James Scholar Honors. Oddly, there was no $2000 scholarship on financial aid reward letter and no “scholarship” tab neither.

Does anyone know how this $2000 scholarship and international study/travel work?

========================================================
Opportunities provided in the James Scholars Program include the following:

  • 4-year, renewable merit scholarship of at least $2,000 (additional scholarship consideration may be given based upon need and special circumstances).
  • Exciting international experiences, largely funded by the College, during winter and spring breaks. Past classes have traveled to Israel, Peru, Columbia, and South Africa for a week long experience.
  • Course work and programs to develop leadership skills.
  • Honors Program Associate Director serves as an advisor for honors students.
