UIUC Class of 2023 EA Thread

@avargas60

@avargas60 I guess you are asking me. Yes, my friend last year was Deferred at Early Admission. But, he wrote a very personal email to the admissions team highlighting about the background of his application, why he thinks he is a great fit for the university, what does he bring to the table, why his mission is not complete without joining the university etc. It was not an email begging for favor. He said that he worded it with lot of passion. I haven’t seen that letter, but, my two cents for you is this. Be very honest in that note, write your story which only you know best. Again, there is not guarantee that they will read it and consider you for sure during regular action. But, it does not cost much to try, other than may be 1-2 hours of good thinking time to write that email. Why not give it a try if UIUC is indeed your dream college. Best wishes to everyone. Have a nice weekend, merry Christmas and a happy new year.

However, I was amazed at how many of her very smart classmates were deferred or rejected. It’s crazy. Congrats to all who got in, but if you didn’t - my goodness it’s no reflection on your efforts.
