Is admissions for biology at UIUC competitive? Also, congrats to everybody that got in and good luck to all that are still waiting for a decision!

Anybody can give any information on Engineering LLC housing please

Also any idea when the financial aid comes out for RD?

Thank you @drusba for the link.

Congrats to all accepted!.

@TytoAlba The main computer science program is in the Engineering department at UIUC. There are some CS+X majors in the LAS department, though. CS-Engineering is insanely competitive and is a top 5 program nationwide. It would not surprise me if there are close to 5000 applicants this year for just over 200 spots. In past years, reports from many accepted students without hooks usually state perfect or nearly perfect academic results plus CS relevant EC activities.

I was told there were 5000 apps to CS when I called UIUC to discuss admission to 2nd major.

DS accepted Math+CS after being deferred EA from CS Eng. Did a program change request after the deferral.

got in Industrial Design
OOS
ACT 33

ok ECs, pret lit portfolio

congrats to everyone who got in! And those on the waitlist or who got rejected, I’m sure you’ll all go on to be great!

Im a current student double majoring in CS and EngPhys, so if you have any questions you’d want a student to answer, just ask!

@literallymarx, my son was accepted in EngPhys. I wonder if he will be allowed to do double major in CS and EngPhys after he enrolls.

@literallymarx is it easy to transfer major within engineering after first year I don’t like my original choice of major.

Have any RD applicants received their financial aid or scholarships yet in the portal?

@markcheng From my understanding it’s much easier to do a double major in EngPhys as a CS major than vice versa since it needs approval from the department as well as the undergrad program office. CS is overflowing right now so it’s pretty hard (if it’s even possible?) to get approved for a 2nd major.

However, there is a computational physics concentration in EngPhys which has a bunch of early CS courses in its curriculum, and the Physics department’s computational physics classes are really well designed.

@gre8texp Depends on the major. Some majors are easy to transfer into, others are very hard to near impossible.
