Which is best for undergrad?

Any opinions from Cornell CS majors on their department?

I'd say Caltech

Cornell CS is supposed to be really good... like #2 behind Carnegie Mellon? i may be wrong..

Caltech, which is an excellent school, offers a completely different college experience than that which Cornell offers. Before you choose, make sure the environment is one that you will be happy with for 4 years.

I agree with the person above. Cornell is a comprehensive university, and the engineering school is one (large) part of that university. Caltech is a strong engineering/technology university. Be sure that you really really like CS and ONLY want to study CS before going to Caltech. UICI is also good and should be considered if the cost is substancially less. All three schools will give you great opportunities in CS - decide based on the atmosphere that suits you best.

This is very very VERY true. Caltech is suitable for a particular personality. You'll hate it if you don't fit in, but you'll love it if you do.

I'm in the same boat, Cornell vs UIUC vs CMU vs Penn for EE instead of CS. The problem with me is that I'm still waitlisted at Cornell, so I have to choose one of the others. If I could help you, I'd have helped myself already =

anneburn, i would advise u to choose CalTech...its got a very good department for CS. Its social scene is good too.

somethingsmellsfunny, Cornell BY FAR is the best choice in ur list
