I have more rejections than acceptances at this point. Whether UIUC or any other college I dont think a holistic review is done anywhere. I talked about my autism spectrum + ADHD and one of my parent’s job loss and my job loss once Covid kicked in . But colleges dont seem to care . As if autism spectrum and ADHD are crimes. If colleges are looking at this thread, I wish they look at someone’s pain rather than asking someone on decision day to focus on a stats quiz.

Congratulations to all those who got accepted. Wish you the very best in your college journey!

Arhaan. I saw your profile. Very impressive. You deserve all your acceptances. Keep it up.

i am so excited that i want to commit to uiuc right now. trying my best to wait for my #1, umich 's decision. it is going to be hard considering i am disadvantaged at umich’s pool as an indiana applicant :frowning: ah i actually wanna drop my ed2 waitlist at nyu. i am so happy that nyu did not take uiuc away from me since i def wont release myself from the ed agreement.

I got in!!! CS + Statistics

I got denied my first choice major which was CS in engineering and am considering appeal. Should I appeal for CS in LAS?

Nice to see an Education major on here finally. My youngest D Accepted Math/Secondary Education ACT: 27 GPA 3.85UW In State. My oldest D is a sophomore at Gies and loves it.

Will love Gies! My daughter is a sophomore in Gies now. So many opportunities. My youngest D just got Accepted Math/Secondary Ed. but may not be a first choice we shall see:)

Thanks a lot. I have already posted my stats above.

I don’t think they have CS in LAS. It is just that the CS+X programs, X is sometimes in LSA. But I could be wrong as I was looking only at CS.

Thank you so much.

I want to appeal for community health but i was rejected from that. not sure if i should try that again or appeal for dgs.

:exclamation::exclamation:pls help out:exclamation::exclamation:

Was rejected from community health, want to appeal. should i appeal to community health again or to DGS.

I have lots of new info (research being published, leadership roles and more) pertaining to community health.

What would give me a better chance of possibly getting in. An appeal to Community health or DGS.

They’re very specific on what they won’t look at for the appeals. It’s crazy. They will NOT look at any LOR’s, no 7th or 8th semester grades, no new EC’s, or anything like that. Basically I think you have to write an essay aka “appeal” to them as to why you should have been admitted to that major.

Adding to that @spicynuggets…I would talk with your HS GC, they could be your best advocate with the UIUC AO. With that said, any appeal is a longshot, so make sure you have other options and get excited about attending at least one of those. Good luck.

Why? As an in-stater and having 4 kids, that’s how they’ve always done it. They don’t have a set index/formula that they use like Texas does for instance for top 5% of students automatically admitted to UT. Or other schools that have indexes that they automatically accept.

Also, if you read this page Policies & Procedures, Undergraduate Admissions, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign under the section “Review Process” you can also see where they state they use a holistic review.

When my oldest was accepted to CS, I knew with 100% certainty they definitely used a holistic review. He did next to nothing in his second semester of school junior year in his non math type of courses, earned two C+ grades. We figured that was the end of UIUC CS for him, but nope he was accepted. He had tons of CS awards, experience, and some other highly unique things. UIUC was able to extract that from his application and ignore the less than stellar grades that semester. If that isn’t holistic, I don’t know what is!
