Congrats! I’m still waiting to hear back but I know there’s still time. Does anyone know when you should hear back by if you applied for the priority deadline?
Congrats @TransferNA! Im glad we both made it!
Hey there! Both TransferNA and I applied for the priority deadline but we got decisions nearly 3 weeks apart. It seems to be on a rolling basis by the looks of it. One thing I wanted to bring up was that they might be waiting to review your application towards the end. The reason I say this is because you’ll have 74 graded credit hours completed by this spring, and in the transfer handbook they say that they’ll have to put you under special review based on space limitations if you have over 70 graded credit hours (by the time of enrollment I presume.) You may just have to wait a bit longer, best of luck!
Ahh okay that makes sense. It really sucks cuz almost all of those credits are actually due to my associate’s degree requirements and the required/recommend courses for junior transfers going into the CoB. I know for a fact that 4 of my credits will not transfer over anywhere, so I think I’m really working with 70, but I really hope that this isn’t a discrepancy that ruins my chances since all of these courses are relevant to the work they wanted me to do D: I feel like this disclaimer applies more to students that have done upper division courses at a 4 year school or students have spent more than 4 semesters at a different school since those applicants are more likely to have completed the requirements at Gies and would not have enough potential credits at Gies in order to receive a degree from there
Okay I just talked to the UIUC rep at my CC’s transfer fair, she told me that my 74 credits will not place me under a special review and that the college of business is one of the only colleges that kind of assesses all their applicants at the same time regardless of if they submit by the priority deadline or the regular one, which is why I may not have heard back yet. However, submitting priority deadline gives you an edge for being admitted. Idk if this info applies to anyone but me but if you’re curious, I figured I would share
I just received my acceptance letter to the Grainger College of Engineering this morning!
Congrats @cheesecake1165!
Yay same here! I didn’t get any emails or anything I was just bored this morning went to see my application portal and found out I got into the College of Engineering lol
Hi everyone! I applied January 29, 2021 to the Materials Science and Engineering major and Systems Engineering as a second choice. I currently attend a CC, have a 4.0 GPA with 31 credits completed (37 with AP courses). My EC’s are my strong point: I am a Project Manager and Principal Investigator for a NASA program and I am an incoming intern at a large Aerospace company. I am not sure whether I should start losing hope yet since a lot of people have heard back weeks ago, is anyone still waiting on engineering decisions?
Not engineering but business. I also applied for the priority deadline and talked to an admissions counselor, they informed me that priority deadline apps do not generally receive decisions earlier than normal applicants (unless of course they see yours early), so it’s worthwhile to note that transfers can receive decisions any time from now until mid April. Don’t be discouraged and keep us updated
rip i was rejected, probably because i am barely going through calculus ii right now. i hope to see if the other schools i applied to are better about prioritizing ECs. good luck everyone!
Aw darn I had to check my portal after reading but I still only see “Completed” oof
Anyone else still waiting to hear back on decisions? I finished my application over a month and a half ago at this point and it’s kinda worrisome that I haven’t heard anything, though maybe it’s just for CoB
I have a buddy still waiting on Grainger, he submitted before the priority deadline.
I’m waiting on Grainger too. I applied to Materials Science and Engineering but I applied in late Feb. I guess I’ll have to wait till April. I hate waiting… I’m trying my best to distract myself…
Yea same here, what made it worse is I just discovered that one of my classes that my CC claimed was a course that would be a transfer equivalent for a required course for business applicants apparently isn’t going to fill that requirement for me anymore so now I’m pretty sure I’m just waiting to be rejected
I’m so sorry to hear that. Are there any ways you could appeal to it? I think there was a space on the application page to explain if you couldn’t take all of the prerequisite courses. Maybe you could try sending an email? I’m just throwing any thing that might help you. Sorry if I wasn’t being really helpful.
Hey nah ur all good, I already sent an email basically asking if this makes me officially ineligible or if there’s anything I can do to remedy the situation cuz like I have every other required course and even all the recommended ones but it’s just this one that I don’t have. Not like I didn’t try to complete it my cc just kinda screwed me over. We’ll see tomorrow what response I get but if it’s a no go, then that means I’ll be ineligible for admission aka rejected oop
I have my fingers crossed for you. I think you already would have done so but you should really address this to your CC because who knows? They might repeat their awful mistakes. They definitely owe an apology to you too. I feel that UIUC’s admission is fast on response and applicant-friendly compared to other school. I hope things work out for you.
Thanks I’ll keep you updated on the situation but for now all I can do is cross my fingers and see if they have any leniency
