I haven’t seen a thread made for this yet so here we are. I applied to the Computer Science + Economics program as an in state transfer from a community college. I have a 3.67 GPA, so we’ll see. Post your stats, results, and any other thoughts if you’d like
Good luck! I hear CS is a super competitive program.
I applied to Natural Resorces & Environmental Science. A few semesters worth of research projects under my belt in ecology and conservation so hopefully that speaks to admissions at UIUC. In-state transfer from a CC as well. 3.84 GPA.
I’m new to College Confidential so forgive me for any mistakes in how to reply/format things, etc, but I’m really excited to hear everyone’s stats and admissions decisions!
I applied to psychology as my 1st choice, Spanish as my 2nd. I’m an in-state transfer from an accredited regional private uni. I have a 3.84 GPA as of this fall semester. I don’t have a lot of ECs other than work and coordinating a Hispanic youth group, but I’m in my uni’s honors program, have made the Dean’s list every semester, and was selected as a translator from English to Spanish for an annual ceremony held at my school every year.
My requirements are in progress for psych, so I don’t think I’ll be admitted to that, but I think I’m a strong contender for Spanish.
I also have no idea how many of my credits will actually transfer, I’m hoping at least 31 so I don’t have to send my old, awful ACT scores or be evaluated on my high school transcript (I did poorly my junior year.)
Good luck to you too @seawaterings! I like your chances
Hi everyone, good luck.

Does anyone have an idea on when decisions will come out???
@asmajeed2018 I looked through all of last year’s fall transfer admissions thread, and it seems that the more credits you have, the earlier you are likely to be accepted. “Sophomore” transfers are admitted on a space available basis. I saw that on a local Chicago community college UIUC transfer guide for various majors. If you have over 60 TRANSFERABLE credits, I think you could receive a decision by this month. If you have less, then an answer is likely to come in March, at least for priority deadline applicants.
Just got accepted for Psych as a Junior transfer!
In regards to my previous post, I am actually a sophomore transfer from a California community college. My GPA is 3.84.
@winroo Congratulations!
@winroo Congratulations!!
By the way guys, I received an email asking for eight syllabi that need to articulated just yesterday, so they’re in the process of reviewing classes that haven’t been reviewed before. I don’t come from a CC so it might take me a little longer to get a decision since I think not a lot of people have transferred from my school to UIUC.
Ok cool ya I assumed as much, Thank you!! I applied for Dietetics as my first choice and Human Nutrition for my second choice. I have a 4.0 GPA with a 27 ACT and 31 Transferable credits from a CC so hopefully, I will be ok
Good Luck Everyone!
I am a prospective junior transfer with 68 credit hours.
Major: Computer Science
GPA – 3.95
Extracurricular – IEEE student branch president / chairman.
My fingers are crossed as I tailored my courses for a U of I transfer. Hopefully the notification will come soon.
I forgot to mention that I have completed 82 credits at my current community college and most of these will transfer over so I’m relieved to hear that the more credits you’ve completed the better. I just hope I’m not too late for the transfer application deadline. Currently waiting on my school to mail in my transcripts.
Just trawled through last years thread, it seems like CS majors may not get a decision until end of April.
Hey everyone! Happy to announce that I was accepted as a psychology major last night!! All of my credits were approved save for one class I’m current taking; I still can’t believe I was approved for psych since I don’t have much to show, but I’m not going to complain about it haha. Best wishes to everyone awaiting their answers!
@orgpsych18 OMG congrats!!!
@orgpsych18 Congrats!!! Though I’m not surprised–you had great stats and super interesting ECs. Do you mind if I ask if you’re a sophomore applicant or junior applicant? I’m a sophomore applicant, and I’m also in-state but coming from a private liberal arts college and not a CC. I’ve been anxious because most people I’ve heard of who were accepted were from CCs!
Thank you so much!!
@uiucpolisci Thank you!! Since all of my credits were accepted, I’m a junior applicant I believe? I’ll be a junior when I’m at UIUC at least. I’m honestly not sure, but I know that generally the more credits that are graded and transferable, the better! I have 46 course credits not counting 6 AP credits. By the time I finish the semester, I’ll have 65 credits including my AP’s accepted by UIUC! Most applicants are indeed from CC’s, I think I saw on a certain website that about 70% of transfers are from CC’s, but I think you should be fine! I was worried about that, too, but it probably doesn’t matter to admissions unless you come from a school known to be rigorous, in which case they’ll probably take that into account and it’ll work in your advantage!
