UIUC Fall Transfer 2019

New member just for this.

Major: Civil Engineering
Applicant: Junior standing
Credits: 63
School: UIC
GPA: 3.75
Courses: All required courses (via transfer handbook)
Extra Curricular: ASCE steel bridge/ Concrete Canoe
Internship: Employed full time winter/summer break, 12 hr week during fall semester (drafting proposed 5G Comm equipment for AT&T)
Submit date: Jan 26ish ( 1 syllubus request form 3 days later)
Confidence Level: 60-77%

UIUC is ranked 3rd in Civil engineering, which makes me nervous af. I have seen many CS, CS + X on past years’ page, but barely any civil. My admission is solely dependent on how much space is available. But given i am in-state student with good credentials gives me confidence.

On top of that, my families income qualifies for free tuition this fall, which is amazing.

■■■■ my anxiety waiting these next months…

Just got accepted today for political science!! Does anyone know how transfer housing works? Like how we find roommates or if there are any established facebook groups/something similar to talk to other transfers?

@orgpsych18 Thanks so much for the info, it helped calm my nerves while I waited for my decision !!

Good luck everyone! I am very worried about my application now… I am currently studying in Parkland College which is also at Champaign. My GPA is 3.91 and will have 63 credits after this semester. My first-choice major is Accountancy but I just realized that I missed requirement of foreign language which I thought my Chinese should work since I am an Chinese Immigrant who lived China for almost 13 years. Sadly, when I look into the requirement of my second choice major, financial planning. I found out that I also miss Finite Mathematics for junior transfer. I missed it because I only have taken classes for Accountancy requirement. Is it still possible for me to get admitted or should I look for another school?

@DGR112

When I visited I was under the impression that CS and MechE were the most competitive majors in terms of space. Civil may be highly ranked, but it may not be as competitive since fewer transfers apply. I think your extracurriculars and internships are your major advantages. GPA is not the end all be all in my opinion.

Best of luck!

ACCEPTED!

GPA: 3.9
Major: Hospitality Management
Credits: About 70 quarter units right now. 10 in progress for this quarter, 12 planned for next quarter.

Accepted into Civil Engineering!

Hi all! I just applied to UIUC’s finance program. I am transferring from a CC in Chicago. Below are some of my statistics.

GPA: 3.96
Credits: 82 (I was in a program that required me to stay an extra year)
Extra: Worked at a Fortune 500 for the past 2.5 years and found over $15M of capital for clients

I wanna say that I am confident that I’ll get in, but I am also not confident haha. I’ll be sure to post an update.

Accepted !!

30 credits
3.2 college GPA
31 ACT
in state

I applied on January 2nd and still haven’t heard back! I applied as a communications major. I’m currently a freshmen at Illinois State University, my gpa last semester was a 3.3 and I have 42 credit hours (I took a lot of classes over the summer prior to coming to college) I’m also heavily involved on campus and felt that I had a really strong essay. I’ve been super anxious and checking my portal like 10 times a day!! Should I be worried that they haven’t given me a decision yet?

Accepted for Accountancy major!

61 credits
3.91 GPA
In state

@ethanw114 Congratulations! I applied for Accounting, too. I have 37 credits, 4.00 GPA at a in-state community college. Did you have lots of good extra-curricular activities? because i don’t really have much. Hopefully I will get accepted, too.

Anyone here get accepted? I don’t see many design applicants comment around so I’m quite nervous…

I am an Accounting Major transfer student from a local CC. My GPA is a 3.65 and I am worried that it will be too low to get into the business school. I’ll be a junior when I transfer to a 4 year in the fall. I am very involved… work two jobs, participate in many clubs, have won awards, enjoy community service – will my low GPA disqualify me? I am mostly nervous because I haven’t heard anything since December!

Accepted Aerospace Engineer.

Just found out today I got deferred…so not good news but not bad news. They said they want to see my spring grades (probably because I’m a freshmen, so I only have one semester under my belt and they want to see more) my current university doesn’t post spring semester grades until May 16th, so I probably won’t find out if I get accepted until late May or possibly early June which sucks. Everyone I know who has been deferred ended up getting in though, so I’m still hopeful! Good luck to everyone!

Hey you all I have a question: what happens if the status is deffered ? Is it good or bad ?

Rejected for College of Business:

Major: Finance
GPA: 3.96
Credits: 82

Reason: Missing Microeconomics course.

@RatingAgency13 I am sorry. I applied to College of Business, too. It’s kinda hard waiting for the decision though. I hope you will get into a better school!

Anybody here for mcb?
