How is it recruited if at all? I am considering applying there as a safety school if I don't get in to Northwestern or Chicago.

Champaign puts you in a better position. UIC is crappy.

haha I meant University of Chicago not UIC

UIUC is quite a popular regional target for Midwest investment banks

Never really heard of anyone from there in S&T though. Maybe they get recruited by some of the Chicago prop shops, but pretty sure not recruited by any BB S&T.

Also, how is IU Kelley? I know they have the Ibanking workshop which claims to have great placement, but are these back-office positions or the real deal. (for Chicago of course, I know there is no chance for NYC)

I don’t know anyone from IU in S&T either at my firm… maybe they place better into IBD?

Kelley workshop grads place primarily in IBD positions, and place a majority in Chicago, but about 1/3 go to New York.

so the workshop does have good recruiting? how hard is it to actually get into the workshop because the school is so easy to get in to?

Are you applying to other target schools?

Yes I’m applying to Northwestern, Uchicago, UMichiganand Duke. I got deferred at Cornell though :/

The workshop is pretty competitive. The average GPA of those admitted is a 3.83, you need to have relevant experience and show a genuine interest in i-banking (through internships, clubs, classes, etc.). About 30 students are accepted each year (they apply junior year), and the workshop itself covers IBD stuff in depth as well as networking with alum.

So you aren’t considering Georgetown & NYU?

well I haven’t really considered Georgetown but I have thought about NYU, but I figured I wouldn’t have a good chance at Stern because all my EC’s are in the medical field and I figured it would be best to apply to schools as a prospective biology major.

Interesting, well I’d def add them to the list, if you end up deciding against them so be it, but they are both well recruited.

how about colgate? supposedly it has a very strong alumni network on wall street but I’m concerned because it is such a small LAC. Do BB’s actively recruit there? I can’t imagine that many students are interested in banking granted there are only 700 of them in each class.
