So I just moved to IL and am considering applying to UIUC bioengineering. Could someone with a 35 ACT+4.0 GPA get in if they don’t have any engineering extracurricular activities? I only have good math test scores and I’ve taken AP Calc BC, Differential Equations, and other college level math classes (and all AP science classes). Thank you.
@RochesterREMS I think I read on the bioengineering website that they get about 1000 applications for the 70ish freshman spots.
We were told BioEng and CompSci are very oversubscribed. Admit rate is under 10% for those specific majors. You do get a second choice major, so you could choose something less selective in case you don’t get Bio. I’d think you have a decent chance, since they tend to go more by numbers than an elite private U.
Ok thank you. That seems a lot more competitive than I thought (7%!!!). Considering that their BioE is ranked below 20 in USNWR, I’m very surprised at this 7% number…
You should be good. Bio-engineering isn’t as competitive as CS, or ME.
