UIUC my dream school???

Hello and thank you for taking your time to read this. So I'm a community college student in Pennsylvania. A few classes that are listed on the transfer guidebook are not offered at my CC like linear algebra or finite math. I'm going to try and transfer after 60 credits and a high GPA. I'm going to be in the Phi Tetta Kappa honors society and i'm also looking at starting a trading/investing club. In CC im taking French and at home im relearning Russian. I was born in Russia which would add diversity to the school so that must be atleast a plus. I want to go to this school because its very respected in Chicago and NYC, as far as, investment banking/hedgefunds/private equity is concerned. Do i have a good chance of transferring? I heard the acceptance rate is 65

oh and i forgot to add UIUC offers my top top choice MFE program which i would like to take when i finish undergrad studies. Also i am planning on double majoring in finance/math for my undergrad and minoring in economics/computer science.

I’m Russian and transfered to UIUC from an out-of-state community college. You have a chance. Though transferring to a school just because it’s respected somewhere (as opposed to transferring for the sake of knowledge) is not a good sign. Good luck though.

I like the location too. Seriously though thats why people go to school to better their careers. Can you give me some advice? Like what all extracurricular activites did you do in CC? What was your GPA? Is there alot of out of state CC students? Whats classes did you take in CC? Is there a big RUssian population at UIUC?

thanks

I didn’t do any extracurriculars at CC, and my gpa was 4.0. I think UIUC looks more at the academic strength of its applicants and not how well they can put pointless things on their resume. Essay is very important as well.

I don’t know how many out-of-state students there are, but there are definitely a lot of international students, mostly from China, Korea, and India. As far as Russian population goes, I’ve been told about couple hundred, but there’s really no connection between them. I’ve registered with a Russian club, and so far have only received one email from them.

The only advice I can give is - study hard and get top grades, write an honest “no bs” essay, and don’t expect being Russian to be of much help. I got accepted to the College of Engineering, which is the hardest one to get into. So you should have a good chance of getting in.

heres a list of classes i plan on taking? does it look solid? should i cut some out? since im trying to double major in finance/math thats why ihave to take calc 3 and i forgot to put in calc for business and comp 2
