My daughter will be applying in the fall to both programs. I am fairly confident she will get accepted at both. She loves UIUC and of course overall it is a superior school. However, I believe Mizzou has a great Media/Journalism program. Any thoughts?

Wow I’m in this exact situation. Does anyone have any input?
I know someone who’s daughter went to Mizzou specifically for that program. She graduated last May, and got a job in New York. I don’t think she’s making out like a bandit or anything, but the mere fact that she was able to get a job so quickly does say something about that program. I have never heard anything either way about the program at Illinois.
My daughter has decided to attend Mizzou. She was accepted into both programs but if you have visited, the decision is a no-brainer. She is a Walter Williams Scholar, Honors Program and directed admitted to J-school. Significantly cheaper than UIUC even for in-state. I would say that if you are not 100% sure on Journalism you may want to think more about the choice.
@3anddone @srparent15 thank you so much! I live in Illinois but thanks to scholarships I would pay about the same to attend both schools. But mizzou clearly has the superior program so it looks like that will be my choice. I was just so excited to get into uiuc.
DD2 is currently a sophomore (actually, a junior with AP and foreign language credits) in the school of journalism at Mizzou. Although she did not apply to UIUC, she did apply to other journalism programs (Newhouse @ Syracuse, NYU, etc.) and was accepted. She absolutely loves Mizzou and thinks that Columbia is a wonderful college town. For Illinois residents who receive the Mizzou scholarships, Mizzou is a bargain.
@MSMDAD I just visited mizzou for a brooks scholarship interview and I loved it. Your daughter picked mizzou over a bunch of amazing schools so it has to be great!
