UIUC or U of Wisconsin

Which one is better??

I have heard from people that UIUC has a good engineering and business programmes.

But, it seems like they are accepting almost everyone.

(I haved heard of SAT 1700 getting into UIUC).

I have applied to college of arts and science for both colleges, and I am not sure of my major yet.

Which college do you guys recommend??

I am out-of-state for both

I have not decided my major yet

Cost is not a big factor

You have to visit and see which fits best for you. If you were heavily into life sciences or economics, then U of Wisconsin would be a given. If you were into engineering, physical sciences, or business, then UIUC.

However, since you have no chosen major, are out of state for both, and cost is not a big factor, you've got to visit and see what you feel is best. If you provide info on areas of interest, then that could help us make some suggestions.

Both are strong schools. UIUC does not accept everyone...that's a ridiculous claim.

It just depends on where your interests lie.

Are you more oriented towards business and engineering, or are you more oriented towards the life sciences and social studies?

Both are first class Universities. Even where one's programs are ranked higher than the other's, the other still has great programs in those disciplines. But if you are from out of state and have no particular ties to either, and you have never been to Chambana or Madison, you definitely should visit before you decide.

Trust me, the answer will be clear afterwards. That's all I'm going to say. :)

If you are from out of state, go to UW (and I say this as an Illinois resident). Many more OOS students at Madison -- and Madison is so much nicer than Champaign-Urbana.
