I’m looking to transfer for Fall 2020 to UIUC Gies for Marketing what could I do to increase my chances for acceptance I’m aware the process is incredibly competitive. I’ll be transferring from a community college with a 3.9 to 4.0 GPA. The only tough part is I’ll be taking some of my last pre req classes the summer before this next fall semester and from what I’ve heard that hurts your chances any advice ? I’m Latino as well in background so I know that will help my application. Clubs , organizations or things that would boost me that anyone would recommend?
I haven’t seen much about transfer admissions, especially for business. Sounds like you have a good resume, I hope they admit, Good luck!
Make sure that you have completed the requirements found in the Gies College of Business Transfer Handbook, accessible from this page: https://giesbusiness.illinois.edu/programs/undergraduate/admissions/off-campus-transfer-(oct) (This link doesn’t work, but the -(oct) at the end is part of the address so you will have to cut and paste.
I would also recommend you attend an on-campus transfer information session if at all possible, and reach out to a transfer admissions rep with pertinent questions. Good luck.
You have a serious issue that will likely lead to denial of admission. You state you will not take one or more of the required pre-req classes until next summer. For transfer admission, Gies requires that all pre-req’s be completed by the spring semester, see https://admissions.illinois.edu/Content/docs/Handbook_BUS.pdf.
