UIUC, Purdue, or Northeastern?

Hello, I'm really hesitating between three schools. I got accepted by University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Purdue, and Northeastern and my major is computer engineering.

For UIUC, I applied for computer engineering but i was admitted to an alternate major (Division of General Studies),
For Purdue and Northeastern, I got admitted to the computer engineering program.

I'm trying to make a decision and if I got into engineering program at UIUC, I probably would have chosen there but it did not turn out well..
I really want to do engineering but I'm not sure if I can even transfer from DGS to engineering major at UIUC.
In the recent U.S. News Engineering rankings, Illinois's ranked 5th and Purdue's 8th (10th in 2012).
Purdue is undoubtedly strong in engineering but the overall reputation of Purdue is making me hesitated from choosing it against UIUC...
Northeastern, on the other hand, has a pretty good reputation overall and is known for co-op programs. But the question is that is worth it to go to NU just for that advantage of the program...

To conclude, I wanted to figure out if I should take the risk of transferring from DGS to engineering at UIUC in the second year or just go to the college that actually want me. Purdue's recent developments in their engineering program have certainly kept me quite interested and Northeastern's location, overall reputation, and co-op program is also a factor to consider.
If there are any other factors that I should consider, please let me know! Thank you!

For the side note, I'm planning on transferring to other schools such as UC Berkeley in junior year.

bump bump bump

bump bump bump

Can you afford Northeastern ? What state are you from ?

“I’m planning on transferring to other schools such as UC Berkeley in junior year.”

Why ?

Let’s remove UIUC since you did not get admitted to their engineering program. Go with Purdue for computer engineering.

I don’t think you should go into college assuming that you’re going to transfer to UC Berkeley after sophomore year… Also take into consideration when deciding that Northeastern has coop and the first one usually happens spring of your sophomore year. That might make transferring to UC Berkeley more complicated.

Did you want engineering or computer engineering?

If you want engineering, I would go with Purdue. As you mentioned it has a great engineering school and it is what the school is known for.

If you want computer engineering, I would go with Northeastern. It has a better computer engineering school and is known for its comp sci and comp engineering programs. See Shawn Fanning, etc.
