UIUC Rejected

I had 1920 SAT (700M 620CR 600W) 3.8gpa and applied to comp sci.
I got denied and didn’t even make it to DGS which really surprised me.
Idk im kind of sad to say the least… what are my chances to appeal and then get accepted?
In the appeal can i include first sem grade 12 marks? i had 4.0 gpa in first sem.

if anyone that got accepted or denied wants to post stats feel free

Are you in or out of state? That will affect your outcome greatly.

From what I can tell on CC, CS is one of the most competitive majors when it comes to an acceptance at UIUC. In all honesty, your scores probably hurt you. If you appeal, I would consider applying to a less competitive major. I have no idea what your chances would be, but that just makes the most logical sense.

Good luck with your appeal! And don’t forget that everything will work out in the end. With a 1920 you WILL get accepted somewhere. Don’t let UIUC deter you.

@nat97xo‌ should i appeal to computer engineering or mechanical engineering? or just no engineering major at all?
I’m just surprised that I didn’t get into undecided program DGS

That’s too bad but I see you are an international student and you reported your scores much lower elsewhere. I don’t know what there is to appeal. It is pretty hard to transfer into CS it seems, so look elsewhere.

@thatdudeinhs‌ I’m going to be honest, I wouldn’t apply to anything related to engineering. It’s already going to be tough for you to get in via appeal, I would suggest maybe Undecided in LAS?

@thatdudeinhs You may have chance in engineering but it will be tough and depend on the rest of your profile. Though you need to study what you want to study.Go somewhere else if you want to study CS (purdue ?).

I got Accepted in aerospace engineering (i’m an international) with 2020 SAT (740 Math, 640 CR, 640 W), though i think my EC’s helped a lot. (if you want more detail you can check my thread or ask me : http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1722489-chance-international-student-for-aero-engineering-umich-purdue-ucs-etc-p1.html)

I just saw your profile, your GPA is a weak point imo (if canada grades are the same as US of course), I think you’ll get into purdue.

Good luck
