Hello, fellow prospective-Illinis!

I decided to create a thread for Spring 2018 transfer applicants applying to UIUC. Feel free to post anything related! (Admission status, GPA, thoughts, experiences, etc.)

I applied for Linguistics/Computer Science! I haven’t heard anything back yet, and I was just getting a little bit nervous…haha.

I’m an international undergraduate student applying as a sophomore.

First choice: Engineering Mechanics
Second choice: Nuclear Engineering

Admission status is still Complete, no decision received yet…

TOEFL iBT: 108/120
GPA: 3.64/4.00
Essays: Pretty alright, I’m fairly satisfied with them.
Extracurriculars: Not much but…

  • Secretary of the Engineering Society in my university
  • Secretary of the organizing committee for the National Science Carnival
  • Plus some volunteering hours for various campus activities

What are my chances at getting accepted?

Thanks for putting this thread together. Has anyone heard back yet? I’ll be sure to update if I hear anything.

I’m applying for CS as a spring transfer.

@HelionFusion Your GPA and TOEFL scores look pretty promising, so I’d say you have a pretty good chance! Good luck!

@nozerodays I haven’t heard back yet, though they have been requesting a lot of materials, such as course syllabi and stuff. I really hope this is a good sign. Good luck to you!

@qasc1234 Hahaha I hope so! I actually have a friend who also applied for the spring semester and he received his decision by the 3rd of November! Maybe because he applied for Chem Eng which is under the College of Liberal Arts & Science, so he got his decision way sooner?

Welp…finally received my decision. Aaaaand…denied. Apparently it was due to my academic qualifications not being at the level at which transfer students were accepted this semester. Gonna try to appeal but looks like a long shot.
Anyways, best of luck to those who are still waiting on their decisions!

@HelionFusion Oh, that’s unlucky… I thought you were qualified for sure! I still haven’t heard anything back yet, but good luck for you with the appeal process!

@qasc1234 I thought so too, but oh well, it is what it is! Hope you’ll receive some good news soon! Even if the appeal doesn’t work out, I’ll be looking forward to being fellow students with y’all in the next semester!

Has everyone gotten their replies by now? Still waiting on mine and not sure why it’s taking this long.
