I assume you mean you will be a freshman at another university in Fall 2012 and want to try to transfer into Spring 2013. If that is correct, be aware that a number of programs, including the business college, do not accept mid-year freshmen transfers and you would need to wait to apply for entry into sophomore year (Fall 2013). See, e.g., [College of Business: University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign](http://business.illinois.edu/undergrad/admissions/off-campus-transfers.aspx) where it states that you will need to have completed at least 30 hours at time of transfer into business college.

LAS does have programs which consider mid-semester freshmen transfers and Individual Studies is one of them. However, if you successfully transfer into second semester in LAS, you will be at a disadvantage of getting admission to the business college later. It accepts transfers from other UIUC colleges only after freshman year for starting sophomore year, there is required coursework that must be completed freshman year to apply for transfer and it will favor those who started at UIUC as freshman. Without admission to the business college (which is actually the hardest college to be admitted to either as a freshman or transfer) you will not be able to do a business major and at best can do a minor.

If you apply as a mid-year freshman transfer to LAS, you will be evaluated for admission based on high school record and test scores since you will not have any college grades when decision is made. Spaces for any transfers mid-semester freshman year are going to be more limited than if you attempt transfer into sophomore year and couple that with the lack of any college grades means it will be somewhat more difficult to be accepted as a transfer mid-freshman year than later.

Pre-med is an advisory program not a major. A student in any major can be pre-med. To qualify for admission to med school you will need to take certain math, science, and writing courses which you can take regardless of what maor you are in.

As to taking history as part of individual studies, you should contact the LAS college and talk to them about the issue. I am sure you can take history but everything you can and cannot do can be explained by those who know more about the IS major than I do.

Two last question: The school of business only allows inter-collegiate transfer for freshmans?

I also heard that transferring into the business school is almost impossible for transfers (out of university). If I would apply and not get it, would I be offered a place at another college (if applicable) or no?

The university allows transfers from the other UIUC colleges only after freshman year into sophomore year. Those outsiders applying from univerities or colleges other than UIUC for tranfer into business can try for entry into second year, second semester second year, or third year.

Internal transfer acceptance rate is usually about 50% or somewhat higher, external is usually lower than 50% and closer to 40% but it is not impossible.

You are requested to give a second choice major on the transfer application and will be considered for it if rejected by business.

LAST question: If you get denied from the business school and accepted to your alternate are you still able to apply to get into the business school later on or can you only take minor classes?

If you are a transfer student who applies for the business college and does not get in but gets in for your second choice major in a different college, you will not be able to attempt any transfer into the business college thereafter. You will only be able to try for a minor.
