UIUC Transfers 2013

no, i couldn’t make it because i had to do something in school. Did you go for it? How was it?

It was pretty cool. We just walked around the campus and met with the admissions dean of the college of business and asked him questions. Hey are you on LinkedIn or Facebook?

Looks like I’m going to decline my admission.
Even as an in-state student I can’t afford the COA with such a high EFC and parents not willing to help much. Have no idea what I’m going to do now, but taking ~45k in loans for 3 years of college doesn’t seem worth it to me.
Congrats to everyone who was admitted, and better luck next time to those who were not!

My D is accepted into U.I at Urbana-Champaign. But we are NJ’s resident. My D got nothing in financial aid package. We have to pay out of pocket about 49K each year just for chemistry major. What is the school thinking??
I know that this U.I has a very good ranking, but we are on edge of monthly budget.

@Thecats , UIUC is not very generous with aid, especially for OOS. Where else is she looking? and Why specifically does she want Illinois (other than good ranking)? What are her career plans?

Please Chance Me

Depends on what school you’re applying to. I’d say you have a decent chance for LAS, but not so much for Business and Engineering.

@vmachine, yeah i am on facebook

Hi everyone, I am currently a freshman at U of I and have a room available in a 3 BR apartment that I have leased for the 2013-14 school year.

It’s a very nice apartment that’s about a 5 minute walk to the quad. I’m a female so I am looking for a female roommate.

Here is a link to a video of the apartment:

Grace, I PMed you

ymhere , thank you for the link that you posted about transfer admission papers & checking credit.

vmachine, i sent a message to you

Does anybody in this thread happen to be aware of how difficult it is to transfer into the physics program from a community college at the junior-level? Is it as competitive as engineering? I won’t be transferring quite yet, but when I do it will be pretty standard application, save for a sort of low GPA. GPA is like 3.7ish, a few clubs/honor societies, and I’ll have the language requirement and chemistry requirement met, as well as the calculus sequence (calc 1 - 3) and the engineering level physics courses (like I said, junior level transfer).
