UIUC Transfers for Fall 2016

I attended the transfer visit yesterday and a admission counselor said that the number of admited transfer students is increasing each year.

@PitLV2109 so does that mean our chances are getting higher?

@PitLV2109 When did you finish your application? I applied and had everything in by Jan 11 and I still have not heard back from them yet. Do you know if it matters if you still have technical courses in progress while they are reviewing the application?

@resonanx It might be, hehe. But if you apply to a hot major like ones in the college of engineering, I think your chance of getting in might be lower, compared to previous years, since the number of applicants is increasing each year. But don’t worry, UIUC already made you a better student, whether or not you will be their student

@darkgamer Hi, I submitted my application during the winter break, and UIUC received all of my transcripts before Feb 1. During that period, I was requested to submit some syllabi, since I spent a year in a Florida university. If UIUC receives your materials by Feb 1, you will be considered as priority filling applicant.

I’m not taking any required coursework this semester, I finished them all except one which I will take in the summer.

@PitLV2109 I am applying as an econ major though ! I hope I get in ! congratulations on your acceptance btw

@PitLV2109 I don’t think that’s entirely true. Because I submitted to UIUC just a day before Feb 1st, and then submitted my course syllabi a week before I got my acceptance. So you just have to send your app before the 1st and then you’ll find out what else to turn in, and if you turn it in, they evaluate and tell you your decision.

@PitLV2109 what is a course syllabi?

@ireallyhatewaiting

“Completing the fall application during our Priority Filing Period may give you an advantage when space is limited. To meet this deadline, you must submit your transfer application and ensure we receive all supporting materials by February 1. Note that no Priority Filing Period exists for spring applicants.”

I guess that UIUC is not that strict, if one submits his or her app before Feb 1.

@darkgamer A syllabus is a course description that you should receive from each class you take. It contains important information about the course, such as how you will be graded, what you will learn, etc.

@PitLV2109 You’re right though, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Thanks for clarifying anyway.

got accepted today for global studies major!
wonder if its easy to change majors

Was accepted for Computer Engineering about 2 weeks ago
4.0 transfer GPA in prereqs
3.8 lifetime college GPA, mostly from 10-13 years ago

Also got into Colorado Boulder CSE so far

Waiting on UCLA, UCB, UW Seattle, UT Austin

@desunaito Did they give you any fits about your old grades? I’m applying to the same major, and the main reason I’m at a 3.5 is from 6 year old grades.

@desunaito Was CE your first choice or second choice? My son has a 3.9 and is still waiting to hear. He is in-state and applied to CS with CE as a second choice

@Evilcow867 I don’t believe they looked too hard at old grades, had a 3.6 in art school 10 years ago and 3.8 in some CC prior to that

@MSL1214 CE was my first choice so maybe they are sending out CE first

I just got accepted for psychology, today!
As I always did, I went to Myillini status tracker to check.
This time, I saw “NAME, You are an Illini!” on orange screen.

This is my first acceptance !!!! I am so excited !!!!

Here are my stats:

I am an international student currently studying at CCC (California Community College).

HS (home country) GPA: Less than 1.7 (We do not use GPA system. I guess I had less than 1.7 GPA)
Vocational College (home country) GPA: 1.7 / 4.5 (Graduated in 2011 with computer science major)
CC GPA: 4.0/ 4.0
Major: psychology
IELTS: 7.0
EC: VP of Psyc club, Research experience, Psi-Beta member, Honors program, Dean’s list.
Essay: meh… I am not sure.

I was worried about my previous works in my home country, but it seems that they did not care much.

Some dates information:

I submitted the application on 2/3.
The application was marked as completed on 2/11.
They requested some syllabi on 2/16 and I sent them on 2/17.

Got accepted on 3/11.

Good luck to all.

Has anyone received their financial aid package yet?

I just got accepted to Illinois !

GPA:4.0
Major:Econ from Calif CC
Applications were completed on Feb 28th

SO EXCITED

Anyone got in as CS major? still haven’t heard anything…

@jwanabust a friend of mine, my girlfriend, and I are still all waiting to hear things back as well. We are engineering majors, not CS, but I think the more competitive majors take a bit to decide. I hope I hear back soon because I would really like to know where I’m going to school this fall haha
