I just received my financial aid package. It’s exactly the same as the net calculator predicted, and it kinda sucks
@MHope2014 Should be any day now, they also do decisions on the weekend so keep checking myIllini like crazy, as that’s where most people seem to be seeing their decisions first.
I applied to Physics and Computer Science+Astronomy. Computer Science+Astronomy was probably a risky choice as a second option as I hear they have a very small program.
I’m transfer student from a community college in Illinois I have applied for fall 2016 for Civil engineering, I have a 3.46 GPA and I did get 1 C in calc 2 but i got As in other major classes , my friend applied with a better gpa and got rejected and I still didn’t get anything yet idk if that’s a good sign or a bad one, I took more req classes than him and managed a 4.0 last semester.
@Medo961 I was told last week that all engineering decisions will be made in “two to three weeks.” Since that was about a week ago I would imagine it’s more like one to two weeks now.
@LaneRendell Oh, I see. Hope you got in other places. I probably will be checking like crazy the next couple of weeks. Thanks for the reassurance.
Any psych majors still waiting for a decision? I think I saw one on this thread who had been accepted…
Just got accepted for Psychology!
From an out of state four year LAC, had all requirements done except for a class that may or may not be accepted for one of them. Also mentioned if it wasnt accepted, that I could take it at a CC over the summer.
Thought my essay was strong, had a 3.6 GPA, and had some good ECs.
Very excited!
Any business majors still waiting for a decision?
My girlfriend was accepted last night for Civil Engineering. She is a sophomore transfer, has a 4.0, and was also accepted as a freshman last year. We’re still (impatiently) waiting for my decision.
@Evilcow867 Wondering if my son (accepted as frosh to CoE Civil) goes elsewhere like your GF if he would have a chance to transfer. May I ask why your GF didn’t go there in the first place?
@msd228 she didn’t go for financial reasons. She had a full ride to SIUC and her parents felt that was the best option for her (I don’t think they were aware of UIUC’s prestige in CEE.) She has one of, if not the strongest application I’ve heard of given the area we’re from (valedictorian in high school, high ACT, a 4.0 since she’s been in college, along with research projects and the fact that SIUC doesn’t really offer the program she’s interested in.) I’m not exactly sure how competitive sophomore transfers are as the majority of transfers are juniors, but I would have been shocked if she didn’t get in.
@Evilcow867 In our case, UIUC is the cheapest option so I’d like him to give it a try and then transfer elsewhere if it doesn’t work out. I doubt he’d be able to earn a 4.0 at any of his accepted schools so there’s it is unlikely he’d be as desirable a candidate for transfer as he is right now as an incoming freshman. Good luck to you both.
I was denied from IB and MCB, so I appealed as a psych major. I got in with a 3.2 gpa, but had a 3.8 gpa for the courses they were looking at.
Has anyone else heard anything back yet? Surely they define mid-April as ~April 15th so that would make next week the last possible week for decisions. I’m getting antsy!
Last year, there was one guy getting his admission from COE after the 15th a few days.
I just got accepted to Computer Engineering! I was so worried that my bad grades from 2010 would keep me out, but it seems that they didn’t!
If anyone is curious about my stats I applied with a 3.55 GPA (but if you only look at my grades since I came back to school I have a 3.94) I am also a single parent and I work as a math and physics tutor.
Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!
Is anyone going to the admitted transfer day next Monday? It’s a whole day event, not just a few hours like a visit day. But there will be heavy rain and several thunderstorms
@PitLV2109 i’ll be there, shame about the weather
I went to the transfer visit day, which included one hour presentation and about one hour and a half touring and meeting the asst. Dean. I dont know what we will do the whole day with this kind of weather. Hope there will be free stuff, like T shirts
lol how is there a day for that while some transfers didn’t get a decision yet I applied with priority too
