UIUC vs. CU Boulder

So I've gotten into both my out-of-state safeties, University of Illinois Urbana Champaign (not engineering) and University of Colorado, Boulder. Assuming that I get rejected from the UC's I applied to, which one would you choose? I'm leaning towards Boulder because I'd rather not live in the middle of a cornfield, but how do they compare academically? I'm in CA, so I really don't hear as much about them. Also, would it be worth considering these if I get into my other safety, UC-Santa Cruz, (considering that instate UC tuition would be a lot cheaper than oos tuition)?

If you got into UIUC, I don't see why you wouldn't also get into at least one of the middle UCs (Davis, Santa Barbara, and Irvine). And why did you make UIUC your safety instead of somewhere like Wisconsin if the location was a negative factor?

In my opinion, UIUC and CU-Boulder don't even compare academically.

what do u plan on majoring in? and did your decision say admit or admit-college reviewed (regarding uiuc)?

Handskillz:I'm probably going to be doing Molecular Biology or Biochemistry. And my decision says "Admit".

RodLo: I knew UIUC was ahead of Boulder, but I wasn't really aware of by how much. All we ever hear about is the engineering there, so I don't really know much about the other programs other than the fact that they are decent.

im_blue: I mainly chose UIUC because I have a bunch of friends applying there for engineering (I know, thats really not a great reason but meh). Also, the location isn't a huge thing: I like the campus itself, but I've always lived near mountains and stuff, so it would take some adjustment, and theres this stigma against the midwest out here, so I'm probably a little biased towards the coasts.

and yea I'm basically assuming that I get rejected by every UC I applied to except Santa Cruz. Otherwise, I'll probably just stay instate. UC decisions aren't until March, though, and I need something to think about while I'm waiting :P.
