UIUC vs. GA Tech for Mechanical Engineering

Besides my safety school, my choices have been narrowed down to UIUC and GA Tech. I'm going to be majoring in mechanical engineering, and I know both schools are great for that. I received the 12K scholarship from UIUC and 6K from GA Tech, so the prices are pretty much identical for me (since UIUC is more expensive to begin with).

Aside from the education itself, it seems to me that UIUC has a better social scene and Greek Life, but GA Tech is in Atlanta so at least there would be other places to explore if Tech isn't the most social place! Study abroad is also something I'm interested in if I get the opportunity to do so.

Any advice or comments about all of this?

Tech is better than UIUC from a recruiting/academic standpoint, particularly in ME. Even though UIUC has a good Greek System it’s very hard for engineers to get involved. Try explaining to your pledge trainer that you’re busy and need to finish your dynamics homework. If you want to do Greek Life or engineering UIUC is a great choice. If you want to do both you should choose Tech.
On a side note, being in the middle is really awesome from both a career and an activities standpoint.
