UIUC vs OSU

DS is deciding between these two for psychology. Like to hear your thoughts comparing these two especially in terms of their academic programs and student life there.

Along with these two, he was also admitted to Penn State, U of Minn and Purdue but have more or less narrowed down to the above.

My daughter chose U of I over Pitt, Purdue and Marquette. They are ranked in top 10 for Psych and the price/ location was right for us as in staters. Pitt was a good choice also but too far and a little more costly. They are pretty stingy with merit based aid unless your ACT’s are at least 33. I don’t think you can go wrong with either.
She was not so impressed with the campus but kids who go there have a great time. Somewhat less sophisticated, especially if you are from a large urban area as we are, but there are some cutural events nonetheless.
Sorry, cannot help with OSU as we did not consider it.

Thks, zini. Any thoughts, anybody else?

For Psych?

Definitely UIUC. I know you are going into undergrad, but the Psych Grad school is ranked 7th in the nation. OSU is 17th. Academic program wise UIUC is the better choice.
Student life is probably the same…

My son is a possible psych major, undecided as of now, but he had a similar choice. Got in to four of the big ten schools (in either honors or scholars programs) but has chosen tOSU. He LOVED the campus and it’s city location over all the others. He also received scholarships to the other three and only loans from UIUC…made it an easy decision! Since he is unsure of his choice of majors (and that doesn’t work easily as an incoming UIUC student), I am happy he has decided to go where he feels the best fit for his life for the next four years. After that…he can focus on grad choices based on his established direction at the time. Undergrad ratings just really won’t matter much in the long run. Definitely visit all of interest. Good luck!
