UIUC vs PSU Uni Park

which is a better school? I plan on majoring in Business Management/Psychology.

I plan to become a Industrial Psychologist, but i feel that majoring in business will help me alot. I do plan to go to graduate school afterwards, and i was told by many that both are good options for the path im taking.

But I want to ask the denizens of College Confidential, what do you think?

bump.......

UIUC is a MUCH better school. it is ranked in the top 40, while PSU is like #55, if you care about that.

I'm applying to both, and hopefully I'll get into both. If I had to choose, I would pick UIUC.

lol, a difference in rank of 15 does not make it a MUCH better school at all. looking at those numbers and saying a 15 rank jump is monstrous is ridiculous. if anything, there isnt much difference between 1-20, 20-40, 40-60, etc. They are took close to say one that is within 20 is MUCH better, based on ranking alone.

Off the top of my head, I don't know which school has a stronger industrial psychology major (I think that the undergraduate business education you would receive at either school is roughly equal -- Penn State having a higher profile on the east coast and UIUC having a higher profile in the midwest).

Frankly, I have no clue as to the relative strength of these school's industrial psychology programs. Given that fact, my suggestion to you is that you do some research in peer-reviewed journals that focus on the field of industrial psychology, such as the Journal of Industrial Psychology (there are probably other journals in this field; a good college librarian can help you out). See if any of the recent articles in the peer-reviewed journals came from professors at either school. Also, I would check the editorial boards of these journals to see where they teach. That should give you some idea as to the professional reputation of the program.
