UIUC vs Rose Hulman (Comp Sci)

UIUC will be around 10k more than rose for me, is it still worth it?
(in terms of fit and all that, I'd be happy anywhere)

Never even heard of Rose. If 10k isn’t too much for your family to handle, then go for UIUC, clearly better choice for CS.

It really comes down to if you want a small or large school. Rose is small, but very good. Gorgeous campus, awesome rec center, adjacent running trails, outstanding faculty, lots of individual attention. UIUC is huge, more majors to choose from if you decide to switch, great division 1 sports(if you are a fan), but you sacrifice the individual attention you would get from a Rose Hulman. Is the big school experience worth the extra $ to you?

I like uiuc’s largeness but I don’t think that alone is worth the big difference for me, especially since ill be paying mostly in loans. I’m also confident that ill be sticking to STEM major at least so I’m not concerned about Rose’s lack of majors

Definitely a hard choice here, though I agree mostly with Momofmanytoo. It depends really which school is a better “fit” for you. Basically, wherever you are happier you typically will study better. UIUC is stronger in CS in general and I think has slightly better job prospects, but Rose is still a great school with great job prospects and the 10k difference makes it hard to say…so follow your fit.

Would you say uiuc was significantly better than rose at CS? Or is Rose comparable?

While I love CS @ Illinois, I would say Rose is comparable to be fair

Thanks for your opinion guys, just to put some closure, i ended up choosing rose because of the cost factor.
