UIUC Vs. Rose-Hulman Vs. Purdue

Hello!
I'm having issues deciding between these three schools, particularly Rose and UIUC. I really like the large school feel to UIUC and that there are alot more people with activities. But I also really love Rose Hulman, and all the work they do to make sure you succeed and all of the time teachers put into individual students.

I guess my largest drawback from Rose-Hulman is I'm worried about the male to female proportions (20% female/80% male) and as a guy I would like to have relationships in college as I am a more social person and like being in a relationship. My largest drawback from UIUC is that it isn't as friendly so much less assistance if you're struggling in a particular course.

I am for sure going into some form of Engineering or hard science.

Help?

What would your net costs be at each one (try the net price calculator at each web site), and does the cost difference matter to you?

The costs differences aren’t that important, I estimated my financial aid based on my silbings’ packages at their schools.

I loved Rose when I toured and the only reason I didn’t go was because of money. However, the school I’m at now has the same feel with professors that care and a tight-knit community. It makes a huge difference in you undergraduate experience. If I ever need help, I can find it. I’m not a number and professors in the department know me, even if I haven’t taken any of their classes. I’m not trying to knock UIUC because it is a great school, but institutions like Rose were built for undergrads so you really should take advantage of them. I would consider UIUC later on if you want to go to grad school.

Irishhillside, where are you going to school?

M

“The costs differences aren’t that important, I estimated my financial aid based on my silbings’ packages at their schools.” - Usually aid depends on the school, number of students in familycollege (which changes each year).

My kids applied a few years back, but hear that colleges now have Net Price Calculators. Hmm… I found one for RH (https://prod11gbss8.rose-hulman.edu/BanSS/RHIT_NPCALC.P_Index</a>), but it seems geared to FA only. I know they have merit scholarships too.
