im a blk senior at a public high school in New York. I plan on studying both accounting and spanish. Should I consider going to University of Illinois at Urbana or the college of new jersey or ohio state (accepted to all 3)?

I think Illinois is more like 30,000 UG students not that it matters much.
The student life at UI and OSU will make TCNJ look absolutely rinky-dink by comparison. Life actually picks up on weekends and you have the fun of big-time sports and hundreds of concerts and other events on campus.
You should have given Wisconsin a look. They give aid to most minority students and have great accting and Spanish depts.

Illinois is probably your best best, followed by Ohio State, followed by TCNJ.

I agree - you will have the best opportunities coming from UIUC.

thank u so much for the responses but i need more...any other suggestions?

current score:UIUC-4
OSU-2
TCNJ-0

i'd go with TCNJ. i'll probably be bias on this one cause i'm probably gonna end up there, but i'd still choose TCNJ over OSU and UIUC. First, TCNJ is probably gonna be more affordable for you and second because of its exceptional academics. You won't just be a number like you probably would be at OSU and UIUC. You'll receive much more personal attention from the professors and such. However, all three are great schools. good luck choosing!

yea...ppl dont realize how good tcnj is....
UIUC-4
OSU-1.5
TCNJ-1

My son and I have done a lot of research on colleges the past few years (he's a HS senior now), and I've heard only good things about TCNJ. It's already got a good rep, and it's only getting better. I think even OOS, it's definitely going to be more affordable for you given the proximity to your home.

I have no bias here as I've never visited TCNJ, nor did my son apply, but with my son accepted (so far) to two private universities (33K-43K/year), one in-state VA ($8K out of pocket w/ pre-paid tuition plan), two NJ state schools (23K OOS cost), I've definitely come to prefer schools that give a lot of bang for the buck. I think TCNJ is one of those schools, given its prestige in the NY/NJ metro area, esp. in accounting (which you cited).

Good luck! BTW...I believe TCNJ is near Princeton (the town and the university), is it not? That should give you plenty of weekend entertainment options.

I'd go with UIUC, especially if you want to major in Accounting.

UIUC-5
TCNJ-2
OSU-1.5

thx 4 the advice guyz un4tunately OSU is giving me the most money right now and i dont want to go there....I REAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLYYYYYYYY wanna go to UIUC but i need a way to get at least a lil money.....
what is it about UIUC'S acctg. program which makes them #1?

I really don't know that being #1 or #40 in accting will make much difference to an UG. So long as they are a main target recruiting school for the major accting firms you will be fine. As all the schools meet that criteria you can look at other factors.

UIUC. Not even close in my opinion. Better in every way.

I would go with TCNJ. The classes are small, professors are approachabl, and the academics are going to be way better there. It might seem that since it's in Trenton, NJ the location is bad, but the campus is beautiful and you're less than an hour from both Philadelphia and New York City. So I wouldn't worry too much about student life.

My vote is also for UIUC. I'm not sure why UIUC is "well-known" while OSU is "very well known". In almost every discipline, UIUC is better than OSU.

I might be mistaken but i'm pretty sure TCNJ is in Ewing, NJ. Anyway, I would go with TCNJ.

alright so its really btw uiuc and tcnj....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm anymore responses?

OSU is very well known as a mediocre school with some great athletics.

actually, UIUC only has 30,000 undergrad if that makes an difference.

a vote for TCNJ----great rep in northeast, why go so far (unless you want to go far away and want a huge school, otherwise TCNJ definitely)
