I am an international student who got accepted to both schools as social work majors...and I am planning on changing majors to maybe business or economics.

I just want a comparison of the two schools because major-wise...UW seems to be better at social services while UIUC wins in engineering and things like business/economics...they seem similar.

UW:
- Seattle- major city with opportunities
- Beautiful campus
- Higher tuition than UIUC (49k?)
UIUC:
- Champaign...corns?
- Lower tuition (45k?)

I think I like UW better...overall...but UIUC seems better with name value? HELP!

Which school has a better chance of me getting a job in the states or like Korea? Which is where I am from.

The two schools are definitely very different. One has more of a city feel, while the other is a college town. Definitely take that into account, and which one you like more. I would say, that if you were going to school to get a good education for business/economics, then UIUC because it is stronger. However that is not the case because you also have to factor in the social work major and campus feel. I would make a list of your priorities and see which school wins in which category.

I don’t really “trust” rankings but UW ranks higher in business graduate school than UIUC does and both have low economics rankings…so I’m curious where you get your sources from? @tenmore

I wouldn’t be surprised about graduate business rankings. UIUC is more known for its undergraduate business school. And no problem!

Busineesweek is a very credible source for these sorts of rankings.

Also usnews ranks them well for certain majors. For example, accounting is #2
