I am an international (Korean) student and I got accepted to UBC (Sauder business) and UIUC (Social work).

The tuition for UBC is around 39000~41000 and UIUC is 45000~46000.

Basically, I heard if I want to work in Canada go to UBC Sauder but otherwise like USA, than go to UIUC.

I am planning to change majors to economics, international relations, or along those lines…I want to travel and be global as well…and I feel like since I already made UBC Sauder and its cheaper, its the smarter choice…but UIUC sees too valuable especially in USA to just not go to.

I love UBC because the campus is pretty and its near one of the best cities.
I love UIUC because it has that american experience: sports, student life, clubs, etc.

What do I do??? Which is better in the long run? Tell me anything useful~

You’re right in that you should choose the school in the region you want to be in the foreseeable future.

The differences between American and Canadian schools are probably less than you’d think. I’m currently attending UBC as an international student and I could assure you that being a UBC student gives you so many opportunities to get involved in all kinds of “student life” activities (unless you’re in Engineering like me LOL).

One major difference is probably the flexibility of curriculum, yet that wouldn’t be a problem unless you’re in Engineering.

P.S. UBC does have a lot of programs that encourages you to do exchange overseas, I’m currently in Germany for the summer.

In addition, you get really yummy Asian/Korean food here in Vancouver, not so lucky at UIUC LOL

You probably made your decision already since it’s August, whichever school you’ve chosen, good luck and make the best out of it!
