UIUC vs. UMich-Ann Arbor for engineering

Im having a hard time deciding where to go between University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign and University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. I plan to major in computer engineering.
UIUC is better for engineering (but not by much), but UMich is a better school overall. UMich is closer and has a better location than UIUC. I think they are pretty much the same in size and diversity. UMich is a little more expensive than UIUC. I still havent visited either yet so hopefully that will help me in deciding but can anyone give me their opinion on where I should go?
I also applied to UMaryland-College Park (I'm from Maryland) and depending on if I get into the Honors program there and if I get any scholarship money, I'll have to consider that college as well.
Some people are telling me to go to UMaryland-College Park because it is closer, cheaper and they say your undergraduate school doesnt really matter, graduate school is what really counts.
Any information is greatly appreciated!!

This is one of those "can't go wrong" situations. I don't know much about the individual programs though. undergrad matters for engineering however.

You might have a little different bias over here. :)
