UIUC vs UMICH ann arbor vs Gatech vs Purdue for engineering

Hi There

I am an international students and have so far got into
Umich ann arbor
UIUC
Purdue
GATECH(my students services tab has appeaed)

I was wondering if you people could help me out and tell me which of the above is the best for engineering(especially Mechanical, Chemical and Electronics). I, being an international student have no resources other than the US news rankings to find out which is the best. My GPA is 3.85, SAT 1900(CR580, W610, M710, Essay10), SAT2(math2c-770, math1c-740, physics-750), TOEFL CBT- 257/300.

Would really appreciate your help
Thanx!

I would say Umich is better than UIUC & Purdue. Don't know about GATech.

All of them are really good for Engineering. But if you are looking overall (engineering + all other programs) rankings and you have the necessary financial resources then I would suggest to go for UMich > UIUC > Purdue = Gatech.

For Engineering UMich = Purdue = UIUC = Gatech

But the rankings will differ depending on which program you are interested in doing.
eg: Industrial Engineering - Gatech
Mechanical Engineering - UMich (difficult to enter)
Electrical Engineering - UIUC (very rigorous and nationally recognized)
Aerospace Engineering - Purdue (ranked less than UMich but NASA hires the second largest number of graduates from Purdue after MIT so that has go to say something about their program).

Also, look into the financial aspect. UMich costs around 40k+, UIUC - late 30's, Purdue early 30's and Gatech is the cheapest among the 4 universities.

Also take into account the climatic conditions and social life before making a final choice.

I think UIUC will cost almost the same or even more than UMich for int'l engineering students. Is that right?

Yeah, definietley go to UMich.

UIUC is late 30's for International while UMich is 40 something
