Hi There

I am an international students and have so far got into
Umich ann arbor
UIUC
Purdue
GATECH(my students services tab has appeaed)

I was wondering if you people could help me out and tell me which of the above is the best for engineering(especially Mechanical, Chemical and Electronics). I, being an international student have no resources other than the US news rankings to find out which is the best. My GPA is 3.85, SAT 1900(CR580, W610, M710, Essay10), SAT2(math2c-770, math1c-740, physics-750), TOEFL CBT- 257/300.

Would really appreciate your help
Thanx!

michigan is tops in almost every engineering disciple possible. i have friends @ UIUC and purdue who only went b/c of money or couldn't get into umich. so definately umich is the way to go. but of course, as an admit, i'm bias =)

GT sucks. It's close to my house and it is just a social black hole. The education is decent, but i would still say Michigan, maybe Purdue

If finances are not an issue, I would say Michigan would be my first choice (surprise surprise!) followed by UIUC.

Michigan is clearly the best choice academically. All the other schools are pretty good for Engineering, but Umich is strong across the board and has the best reputation overall anywhere.

Umich

UIUC

GaTech

Purdue

i think uiuc engineering though is better than umich engineering. though for everything else umich is better.

Niihla, UIUC and Michigan are equal in Engineering. UIUC's school of Engineering is slightly larger than Michigan's, which explains why it is generally ranked one or two spots higher than Michigan in Engineering. However, in practical terms, the top 4 Engineering programs in the country are Cal, Caltech, MIT and Stanford. The next 4 or 5 programs are CMU, Cornell, Georgia Tech, Illinois and Michigan (in alphabetical order) are pretty equal in terms of reputation and quality.

actually UIUC's engineering is ranked the 4th with Caltech, lower than MIT, Berkely, Stanford.

Yes, UIUC is tied with Caltech, not lower. Every school has different strengths in engineering, so you might want to look at those.

Overall, the engineering schools of the four universities are excellent. I'd consider them as peers in terms of academics and career opportunities. Individual departmental strengths may be more varied.

My friend go into Umich, UIUC, & GT...he's gonna go to GT b/c it's cheaper.

outside the US, mich is the only school that can get u the interview..just saying
