Well that’s NYU’s MBA data from 5 years ago. Idk if I should consider it outdated or not…

Also, idk how this will relate to Undergrad… prlly not the same since MBAs earn more

Bingo finally found it. altho technically this is NYU overall and doesn’t say how many (or what %) were placed in IB. It says avg “banking” salary was $69k though. I assume they meant IB and not just like any other banking

Unfortunately, Stern does not publish their personal information. Nice find on NYU’s overall placement information. I would recommend looking at all of your schools placement data before making any decisions. Keep in mind that students at Stern are (likely) more prone to be interested in Ibanking than say WUSTL or UT Austin.

This is true. Although I’m sure there must me more recruitment at places like nyu than wustl, right? I looked for cmu’s statistics and all I could find was an external number which claimed cmu tepper overall was 65k

I’m not sure if in Ibank would prefer an NYU degree or a WUSTL degree. Given all other factors are equal, I think they would give the edge to the NYU degree because they are aware of the sheer #s they send into Ibanks.

icheetah’s evaluation is pretty good, although I’d be curious to know if CMU has better placement than BC. I would assume that more kids from Tepper go into Sales & Trading than IB, given CMU’s overall quantitative atmosphere. I would also guess BC gets more kids into East Coast placements than McCombs, but I really don’t know off the top of my head, McCombs is a good name too. However, there’s no way WUSTL is outdoing BC.

@Ortsac that is a good question. I would think at first glance that CMU would considering its better name branding and what not, but then again, CMU is in Pittsburgh while BC is in boston. That must have some bearing on the issue

I would agree that CMU students may be more likely to go into Sales and Trading. But again, Tepper only graduates 80 students a year (somewhere around that). It is pretty difficult to analyze the data of such a small sample.

Wow if the class size at tepper is 80, that means it must be extremely competitive to get into! I had no idea -_-… gg to me

I’m not sure if it’s THAT competitive. Not that many people are interested in it compared to many of the other big names. I would say WUSTL is harder and Stern is at least on par with admission difficulty.

oh ok. I guess its just that a couple of ppl are applyign to tepper from my school so i think that made me assume that lots of kids were applying across the country -_-

Here is UT-Austin’s Statistics.

It says BHP on front but includes all majors.

Thanks man. Do you know a similar statistic page for uiuc?

For business, the USNews rankings are almost spot on. This would be my ranking:

Wharton
MIT Sloan

UC Berkeley Haas
Michigan Ross
NYU Stern
UVA McIntire
Georgetown McDonough

CMU Tepper
UNC Chapel Hill
UT Austin McCombs
WUSTL Olin
Boston College Carroll
USC Marshall

I think almost everyone would put UT McCombs ahead of UIUC. Not that UIUC isn’t good (especially for Chicago).

Lol is uva biz really above cmu tepper?
Sent from my XT897 using CC

Yes. McIntire is a very strong program. Peers with Ross and Haas.

Ok. I stand corrected

This list is incomplete and slightly inaccurate. If you’re going to compare business schools for finance careers, you need different rankings for investment banking and S&T. Technical schools like CMU have big advantage for S&T over more liberal-arts colleges, like Georgetown. Here are my rankings for overall quality of undergraduate business schools.

Investment Banking

Tier 1: UPenn - Wharton, MIT - Sloan, UChicago - Booth*
Tier 2: Cornell - AEM, NYU - Stern, Georgetown - McDonough**
Tier 3: CMU - Tepper, UVA - McIntire, UC Berkeley - Haas, Michigan - Ross, Notre Dame - Mendoza
Tier 4: WUSTL - Olin, UNC Chapel Hill. UT Austin - BHP
Tier 5: UT Austin (non BHP), USC - Marshall, Boston College - Carroll

Trading:

Tier 1: UPenn - Wharton, MIT - Sloan, UChicago - Booth*
Tier 2: Cornell - AEM, NYU - Stern, CMU - Tepper,
Tier 3: Georgetown - McDonough, UVA - McIntire, UC Berkeley - Haas, Michigan - Ross, WUSTL - Olin
Tier 4: UNC Chapel Hill. UT Austin - BHP, Notre Dame - Mendoza
Tier 5: UT Austin (non BHP), USC - Marshall, Boston College - Carroll

UChicago has an undergrad business program so I decided to put it on this list. Last year, UChicago sent more students to Goldman Sachs than any other undergraduate college. If you look at their placement figures, UChicago grads do almost as well as HYPSM students.
**Although McDonough isn’t ranked that highly, it has excellent representation on Wall Street. McDonough graduates have some of the best i-banking placement statistics.

Chicago does NOT have an undergraduate business program. Your listing is off.
